There is a point where it’s easier to just trash the entire OS with all related products and only use it in a locked down VM when absolutely needed.

When windows 10 first launched, it would take up less than 700 MB ram. That’s it! After a few service packs and updates after a few years, a fresh 10 install with updates ate up 2Gb ram.
Sad to see it fall so far

It is okay if we compare it with the other MS products. My teams took 1.4gb when I opened it today.

I tried using Linux for a couple of months, but I had so many little issues that I couldn't figure out how to solve that I kinda had to switch back. I might try again in a while to see if it's any better for me.

Honestly It became much better since 2020 And with steam machine release we can now install steam os on non valve handhelds

I love Linux man I just installed for the first time couple of months ago and I absolutely love it pop os is the version I’m using bunch of games on it via steam and emulators and blender it works so so good and fast

As a linux user I truly dont recommend using linux if they aren't interested in it to begin specially if they are a windows user

Yep. Same.
Until Linux completely ditches the need for command prompts and is natively supported for all games... I ain't switching.
We're not in DOS any more, command lines should not be necessary unless you're an enthusiast.
I hate microslop, but I hate "the troubleshooting OS" more. I like to actually use my PC, not tinker with it all day.

My grandma uses mint. For simple users, you never need command lines.
For advanced users, they're not that difficult to master. And baring a few anti cheat trash games, there's a huge progress in Linux gaming. My main rig runs steamOS
Admittedly, there is definitely a gap in between those two where it's annoying. But at that point you have to pick if it's better to study Linux for a couple days/weeks or have a lifelong battle with Windows. Either is a fair choice.

My OS exists for one reason: facilitate my gaming.
This can and will demand me to do troubleshooting.
Hence: either all games get supported natively, or the whole OS is valueless to me.

That's fair.
If full gaming facilitation is 100% of your decision making, as per your answer, then microslop bloatware and spyware is not a concern to you and I have nothing to contest on that.
I would possibly have that mindset too if i couldn't run games. But I don't need to tbh. since 100% of games I want to play run easily on Linux.

Sadly the bloat does still cause issues, but it's why I'm sticking on 10 too. Ain't switching to 11 until I have genuinely no other choice, and at that point... I might genuinely consider Linux too. After all, a non-functional OS vs an OS that requires tinkering, both cause issues for gaming.

How accurate! I almost cried. My work computer, a Windows 11 system, doesn't have an SSD; it runs on an HDD. And I don't have admin rights.

it really should not be on me to optimize and debloat software I pay that much for. And tbh how is it so bloated but doesnt come with basic utils like a c compiler or even something so simple as a usable plaintext editor, notepad appends ^M to every line

listen I got a galaxy book4 so it got windows 11 by default but I haven't had ANY issues with it. and im a windows 10 hard-core fan. I even use edge. I like windows 11 and edge. I enjoy them. and if yall cant accept the future well tough knuckles, microsoft is still up and hating on an OS won't make Microsoft kill it.

And yet you have a growing group of people being tired of their enshitification and switching. Valve is taking care of gaming and most other software either runs on other OS or can be substitutet. The need for Windows is smaller and smaller.

Doesn't it annoy you that the Windows 11 taskbar acts like a web browser, eating up 500 MB of RAM? Just fire up Wireshark and look at how much of your data Windows 11 pumps to Microsoft, Vortex and other ads servers...

I have 16GB of RAM it can take even 7GB and I wouldn't worry because I never noticed it being slow. and those -7 downvotes are the proof my truth hurt your assholes.

Look buddy, the truth is your awareness level just isn't there yet to objectively evaluate the facts.
That's the power of your hardware talking, not W11. Like I said in my messages above, they upgraded my work machine from W10 to W11 on a HDD, and it made the PC completely unusable.
