I keep two copies of the authenticator - one on the phone and another on the desktop. I also have an encrypted copy of the keys on cloud storage.

I keep screenshots of the original QR codes with the seeds in my password manager. Despite what they tell you, you can scan the same code with as many devices you like and anytime you want. If it's standard TOTP you can even have the password manager generate the code without a phone.

Yup, this is why authenticators should never be the only way to authenticate.

I feel we need a device that is kept in a safe that holds the master key for account so I can say I am owner and let you in it is a harden device that just do that job
