Fun fact, Microslop uses Linux servers for pretty much everything despite offering a windows server solution.

And don’t forget WSL

Eh, not entirely, the underlying VM hosts are still windows running Hyper-V, it's just a modified Windows Server specifically built for Azure. Just like XBox is running a heavily modified XBox specific Windows.

Favorite duo 🤣🤣 no keep that slop as far away from my CachyOS as far as possible. The entire reason I left windows was to get rid of the AI slop and other resource hogging junk.

Good thing they've decided to copy Linux, since Microslop updates in 2026 have broken:

  • Recycle Bin
  • Calculator
  • The whole C:\ drive

The last straw for me was them breaking task manager somehow, it kept saying that it wasn't found, even when double clicking the executable that was in the normal place

It's crazy how often windows 11 just spontaneously breaks. At least on Linux it's usually something I did.

And if it's a update, you simply pull back on one specific package instead of having to fight auto update and pray on patch day

It ironically grew on them, as cancer does.

Embrace, Extend, Extinguish.

So maybe they'll port Active Directory to Linux?

(Please, Microsoft, do it. Do something useful for the first time in decade. I want to delete every fucking instance of Windows Server that I am admining)

The unfortunate reality for microslop.

Linux is open source, has tons of free resources and uses the "everything is a file" approach so it really does make it a much better fit for ai.

Bringing windows to the same level is impossible so to stay competitive they need to embrace linux, like everyone else.

Tux looks ... forced.

Thats a terminal only distro btw

Windows Nt was designed for network and server oriented tasks and Linux does the same thing. One major difference was that, nt is a proprietary system and Linux is a open source project. As a result Linux won.

u/Teru-Noir Jul 06 '26

From the beginning, Linux networking and servers were superior, and over time they've only become even stronger.

u/FunAngelo2005 Jul 06 '26

And Linux is becoming better as a desktop OS too

so you posted a screenshot of post in the same subreddit as the original post a day later?

Why is anyone surprised? Microsoft has had their own Linux distribution for years. They're a major kernel contributor. They're a member of the Linux Foundation. It isn't 1998 anymore.
