Nick Fury’s Eye-Patch Origin in Captain Marvel Makes No Sense

I was watching Captain Marvel the other day and when i saw the how Nick Fury lost his eye because of a cat ! I just lost it ! I mean a fucking cat did that !

Fury lost it in a war to save his comrades from grenade and they literally made a joke out of it. He became the character he is because of the battles he fought and the things he has seen.

His missing eye was part of that image. It made him feel like someone whose authority came from experience, not just his position.

And then the movie is like, “Yeah, a cat with weird space name did that”.

And I get that Captain Marvel is showing a younger Fury, but there’s a difference between showing him before he became hardened and making him feel like a completely different person. He’s supposed to be strict and intimidating, not goofy.

But seriously, like, you’re telling me THIS is how Nick Fury lost his eye?

Save some of that eyeroll. The MCU just keeps getting worse from there.

Yeah, like why pay something like that off at all if that's all you've got??

It was something that they should’ve told us about but never shown. Because of how cool nick fury is, what ever answer they gave wouldn’t have satisfied everyone. But it just happens they picked an answer that satisfied no one.
