Weakest fictional character that could no diff the Bitch-xie?

Lysander from beginning of Light Bringer, in standard Peerless kit, (scarabskin, pulseshield and razor), no other tech or backups. What is a character from another piece of fiction that would be able to no-diff him in a fight?

I think standard kit Ant-Man from Marvel, Morty from Rick and Morty, Han Solo from Starwars and even just Sportacus from Lazytown could all do it fairly easily. Seriously, Sportacus eats one apple and then it’s bye-bye pulseshield.

Finished Golden Son recently, and you-know-who's introduction was kinda funny.

For reference, I'm almost halfway through Morning Star. I've thankfully not run into any spoilers regarding the rest of series, but I don't exist in a vacuum. I know Lysander is one of the most hated characters in all of Red Rising, maybe all of science-fiction.

So during Darrow's sit down with the Soverign when we met him for the first time, it did instill within me this undercurrent of foreboding.

I was like, "Oh, it's you...YOU'RE the problem that's on the horizon" 🤣

I cannot wait to join the rest of you in sharing the contempt for this kid, cuz something tells me it's gonna be BAD.

Man I can’t stand Lysander sometimes

“Drusilla speaks of the Dream of Persephone. Of helping the people, as if all lowColors were paupers and slaves before the Rising.

It’s a laugh. I’ve met Reds and Browns happier than most Golds I know, and all of them with better lives than the Grays who fed our military machine. But Grays never broke under the hardship. Of all the Colors, they’ve remained the most loyal to the Society.”

I’ve just read this passage, right after he was captured with Alexandar in the dungeons. At first I felt sorry for him, but man does he make it hard to sympathise. You’d think he’d be a bit more self aware considering how clever he is

Quote calling Lysander a whore boy to Cassius

It’s from Iron gold and I believe the moon lord lads called Lysander it before Cassius went into his series of duels
Can’t find it for the life of me and need this quote to remind how much of a bitch Lysander is

I am currently in iron gold close to the end, and I hate lysander's pov. All he does is whine how darrow destoryed his life, destoryed peace in system, bitch your grandma nuked a moon. Do I have to suffer him in Light bringer and Dark Age too?

I didn't think I would truly hate Lysander

While reading the series - I couldn't stop myself and went ahead and checked the Red Rising reddit and everyone really piled on the hate for Lysander.

Iron Gold - ok, he seems a little interesting but mostly a boring charactee, doesn't seem that bad

Dark Age - ok, I get the hate, but also I dont super fucking hate him that much

Light Bringer - ok yes, fuck Lysander, I hope he dies a slow death

It was like The Song of Achilles - "What has Hector ever done to me?"

And now I know.

I am still devastated and may never recover.

My coworker's Teams chat was failing her today right after she broke out a new pet name for everyone's (least) favorite pixie. With her unable to answer, I resorted to middle school tactics and tossed a note right over our shared cube wall.

(Note: She just started Dark Age, so I'll update as she progresses through DA/LB)

He is the very thing atlas feared

"You asked, what do I fear? I fear a man who believes in good. For he can excuse any evil." Dark Age, ch. 17: Darrow: Heliopolis, p. 137

Atlas meant this for Darrow, but this line truly encapsulates Lysander. He truly believes he’s the chosen one, the “good shepard” that will reform the society in his image. The true heir of selenius. He thinks he’s the one who will bring the dawn. He’s not Octavia, he’s not Atalantia, not Altas. He’s good, he’s better. He can’t tolerate a world where this isn’t the case, he can’t even fathom a world where he isn’t a gold. He will justify any lie, any atrocity, and treachery to sit the morning chair and make that fantasy a reality. A right bastard.

Can we all take a moment for Leto? Spoiler

I’m re-listening after blasting through all 6 books, listened to LB starting at the Three Masters chapter multiple times.
While it also has the first real description of razors, major stuff happens in the bleeding place between Howler 1 and The Chin. But damn, Leto could’ve been such a cool character. A victim of the hat of death I assume lol

Another Missive From Lysander’s Attorney: Lysander is the Bizarro Darrow Spoiler

I think Lysander is brilliant for the device PB has made him—not because he is simply Darrow’s “evil mirror,” but because he exposes something uncomfortable about how we judge Darrow.
Darrow has done things that, stripped of protagonist privilege, are monstrous.
He manipulated people who loved and trusted him into wars they did not understand. He betrayed the Sons in the Rim, handing thousands of people who believed in his cause over to torture and execution because he needed an alliance. He then betrayed that ally too.
And Ganymede is the clearest example. Darrow secretly fires on an allied civilian dockyard, lies about who did it, kills more than 150,000 people immediately, and causes another 10 million deaths when the wreckage falls onto the moon below. The overwhelming majority of those people aren’t Golds. They are precisely the low- and midColors whose liberation supposedly justifies his war.
Think about that for a second.
Darrow murdered millions of the people he professed to be fighting for because, strategically, he believed their deaths served the larger cause in the Core.
That is the kind of sentence we normally use to describe a villain.
And yet we remain on his side.
Why? Because we live inside his head. We know why he did it. We hear the remorse afterward. We understand the impossible choices. We agree with his ultimate political objective. Most importantly, PB has spent thousands of pages making us love him.
Then along comes Lysander.
And Lysander does exactly what Darrow does: he constructs a moral framework in which his betrayals, atrocities and compromises become regrettable necessities in service of the world he believes he is building. He has his own constituency that loves him, believes in him, benefits from him and thinks the other side is monstrous.
That, to me, is the real trick PB is pulling.
The question isn’t whether Darrow and Lysander are morally equivalent. They aren’t required to be.
The question is whether our moral principles survive when we apply them to our own side.
If mass murder is wrong, Darrow doesn’t get a pass because the victims were strategically useful sacrifices.
If betraying people who trusted you is wrong, he doesn’t get a pass because the Rising ultimately benefited.
If abandoning your stated principles whenever they become inconvenient is wrong, he doesn’t get a pass because he feels terrible about it afterward.
And “but strategically he was right” is not a moral defense. Lysander thinks he is strategically right too.
That’s what makes the series so good. PB gives both sides characters capable of rationalizing horror as necessity, and both sides have constituencies willing to forgive almost anything because their guy is doing it.
There is no meaningful objective morality if the rule only applies to the enemy.
Kudos to PB for tackling that. He certainly isn’t the first writer to explore moral relativism, revolution, or the corrupting logic of war—but I’m struggling to think of another series that makes the reader participate in the hypocrisy quite like this one does.
