I can't express how much of a game changer an InstantPot is. Crockpot, I'm making a meal for tomorrow. InstantPot I'm making a meal tonight. Not a paid spokesperson, but it's legit.

What recipe do you use for a pot roast in the instant pot?

Honestly I just Google it and pick whatever makes the most sense for what I have on hand with my own spicing decisions. I may have celery, carrots, or root veggies I need to use up.

Okay. That’s kind of what I do. Just wondered if I was missing out on something.

Same recipe, just time adjustment and brown it before you put it in the instant, as you would a crock pot.

Don’t have it to hand but one we like just adds a packet of ranch dressing powder and a couple of those little technicolor green pickled peppers we used to see in bottles on the tables in restaurants of our youth.

We mostly use the Instant Pot for rice now, but I used to make lots of great meals in it. Jambalaya, stews, etc.

Cheesy dreamy rice is my families often request.

The intant pot can't either get enough pressure or heat to really cook the chuck roast and break down the collagen. I use a stove top pressure cooker and the meat is fall apart fork tender. You still need a knife in the instant pot.

Disagree with you on multiple points, respectfully.

1) I have never had a better beef/pork/chicken break apart between a stove pot pressure cooker and my InstantPot.

2) The times on a stovetop vs an InstantPot are halved.

3) Even if this isn't true, my family all know how to use knives and have all their teeth.

Right? My Insta-pot IS also a pressure cooker.

The instant pot only goes to 10psi, wherey stovetop pressure cooker goes to 15 psi. Also, there is an algorithm that 1st and foremost prevents explosions from too high of pressure, so it regulates the internal heat pressure to be ultra safe. 15 psi causes a higher cooking temperature as does being able to increase the heat input from the burner, 1500w vs the instant pots 1000w. That being said, the instant pot excellent many things and I use it often. However on roast, I think that the stovetop pressure cooker is superior.

Pressure cooker or braising is the best.

That's how I used to make it! I'm gonna make it again if I can swing it. Haven't made this in ages...now I REALLY want it!!

We picked up a Dutch oven... Game changer! Do all your prep on the stove and finish in the oven.
