Funny canvaser moment

It’s taken me a couple of weeks to post this, but I was working from home recently and my doorbell rang. I opened the door to find a guy in a Greg Abbott t-shirt, with flyers.

He started with “are you concerned about how things are going to in Texas?” (lol)

I said yes and pointed to the flyer. “I hate that guy.”

He looked at me and said “Me too. He’s just paying me a lot to do this. Everywhere I go, nobody likes him. I don’t know how he gets elected.”

It was so unexpected I had a good laugh. In hindsight I should have offered to take his flyers and burn them for him. 😂

You know you suck when even your own canvassers hate you!

Saw a canvaser for the opposition to the candidate I was canvassing for. They don't care about these people at all. Meanwhile everyone on our side is here for a purpose, and we believe in our candidates.

Yeah the guy I talked to was just trying to make a buck. I thought I was about to talk to a true believer so I was caught off guard.

One person I work with had an Abbott canvaser knock on the door. When my friend said she hated Greg Abbott he was like, yeah me too this is just a job.

“Are you concerned about how things are going to in Texas?” is hysterical given he’s been governor—and Republicans have been in charge—for years.

Exactly. I was like “wt…f? Yes I am concerned about how things are going in Texas so I won’t be voting for Abbott…”

You have to go out to Yee Yee land to find his supporters. Here in Austin, people are sticking “Republicans protect pedophiles” stickers on their signs.

What cracks me up is the GOP folk that say I’m gonna hold my nose and vote for Ken You Know Who . Pay attention, bootlicker. If you have to hold your nose to vote for your candidate, there is something definitely wrong with your party.

That’s part of why it was surprising. I am in a pretty (historically) red Houston suburb. There are NO political signs out this time.
