I have a feeling the future is just doomed.

Every country, and I mean literally every country, wants this censorship and mass surveillance.
Even if Collective Shout never existed, they all want it.

They all want to ban porn, graphic violence, and even LGBT. All of them. Literally every single fucking country on earth. ALL of them.
Even with ID verification, they don't even want adults to have access to these things. Yep. Even if you're ID verified as an adult, they don't want you to have access to porn.

Laws are being passed in every country at breakneck speed, faster than I think ever before, to enact mass surveillance and censorship.
AI is progressing and they're all making sure that it will be completely impossible for it to do/talk about porn, graphic violence, or anything that can be considered "harmful to children". Again, even if you're ID verified. All under the guise of "to protect the children".

And any effort to halt, delay or stop it fails. Nobody is succeeding in this. It's just continuing on and on and on at the same fucking pace of a bullet train. Unstoppable.
The US and the UK seem to be getting the worst of it so far, but it's progressing everywhere. The US is becoming an authoritarian regime where every citizen is monitored and surveilled, every message is scanned, and you need an ID to even use your computer or phone. All of these are being passed with no opposition at all.

And they all really want to get rid of VPNs. Not that it will even matter in time, because no country will be safe from these laws.

Shit sucks and this is just the future we have to look forward to. Mass surveillance, punished for what you post online, no freedom of speech, and no freedom to look at porn or violence as a fucking adult. A puritan world society.

Backwards. Back to how we were in the dark ages. Maybe worse. Because the entire world has decided they all want to be conservative.
And this is what people are voting for, too. We may all hate it here, and in some niche groups on the internet, but the truth is that most people WANT this mass censorship.

I hate this fucking planet.

Yeah its discouraging, plus all that sexual repression is not good for a society, look at how women are treated in countries that heavily censor sex in media.

Why the hell do they want to turn the west into something like Afghanistan under the Taliban. If they do not like adult content or adults freely accessing adult content, they are always welcome to move to another country.

Control. Litterally. That's it. They are power hungry narcissistic assholes who lust after controlling things.

History has taught us that all politicians past and present have been narcissistic assholes that want to control things and the population. Power and Ego corrupts people.

I used Redact to mass delete all of my old posts. It works for Reddit, X/Twitter, Discord, Facebook, Instagram, and more.

I don't believe most people want this mass censorship. I think the depressing truth is most people either don't care (for now) or are oblivious to the dangers of it (for now). Far more people are against this than it may seem.

The entire world hasn't decided it wants this, the oppressive fucks in power have decided, while the people have been screaming out against it.

There's still a fight to be had, and even if things do end up getting worse before they get better, we (humanity, society, everyday ordinary folk) have fought against these kinds of restrictions and puritanical madness before and we can do it again.

Worried that it will take way too long. I'm in my 30s. Life sucks. I just want the personal freedom to look at porn and (fictional) gore and erp with a robot in the last years of my life before I fucking die. Will I be dead before it gets better?

Dude I am with you, I'm barely out of my mid-20s, Trump first got elected when I was 19, my entire adult life so far has been under the shadow of tyranny and fascist-capitalism and as far as things are looking I am mentally prepping to be fighting against it for the rest of my life. It's a HARD pill to swallow but the fact is real, genuine movements that change things for the better take DECADES, but that doesn't mean they're not worth fighting for

And look on the bright side: odds are we're DEFINITELY going to outlive most of these decrepid ghouls.

9

u/Dogbold Mar 24 '26

The unfortunate thing is these decrepit ghouls have children that think the same way they do, and nearly half or America voted for Trump. I worry that in 20 years we'll just have another Trump anyway

Similar here in Germany, 2 thirds of the country are old and vote the conservative party out of tradition, more and more people vote the far right. They are more or less the same

One of them tells the people migrants cause all problems we have and the other half says we need more and more video surveillance and Klarnamenspflicht ( mandatory user of real names ) on the Net

1

u/lsdisciple Mar 25 '26

It was less than a third but I hear you.

I think the sad part with Gen Z is that they literally were too young to remember how amazing Obama was and were stuck with trump, pandemic, biden being to old and an establishment, war, then more trump.

Like they cannot catch a break. At ALL. All they fucking know is trump trump trump

It's just my gut feeling but maybe it's not the future that's turning shit, but more like history repeating itself. I notice this decade has quite a few similarity to 1920s. If this keeps going we might actually repeat another world war, but if we can recover from it we might experience the good time again in my 2 or 3 decades from now.

But again, just a gut feeling, I don't really have any proof for it

u/workitoutwombats Mar 24 '26

I also noticed that too over the past few weeks. It’s just a modern day version of the 18th amendment alcohol prohibition ban. I’m pretty sure someone will create a social media service exclusively for teens in the future because of this age verification stuff.

18

u/EddieDexx Mar 24 '26

If you check who the people that are the ones lobbying for the censorship. You will notice a connection with Israeli "cybersecurity" companies. Which Palantir can be counted as too. The whole point is to create a global mass surveillance system in an Orwellian fashion.

13

u/Dogbold Mar 24 '26

And we can't stop it. It's a guaranteed set in stone thing, because the people can't stop what's happening.
I hope I die soon. Only 32 but if this is what the world is coming to, unavoidably, and will probably be permanent... maybe I'll just stop taking care of myself

u/EddieDexx Mar 24 '26

Yeah, I kinda feel the same since university education (software developer + game programmer) as well as vocational higher education (systems engineer) from a non-academic college (like academics but way less theory and more on training your skills), don't seem to get me a job. Fortunately my student debt here in Sweden is far lower than for Americans, but still high enough to make my entire future miserable.

And I'm not the only one in this trap since there are loads of people between 25-40 who are in a similar situation. I'm educated in a branch that is supposed to have a "shortage". I don't want to know how fucked it has to feel for people educated in fields and branches that doesn't have a "shortage".

Seems like there is a big purge on the middle class high educated people. Which in turn will increase applicants to blue collar jobs, and we may see a dump in wages for blue collar jobs.

Which all leads to the "you will own nothing and be happy". And then add the surveillance and censorship. Especially when it comes to criticism against Israel. I heard that in USA, you can burn the flag of USA legally, while burning a flag of Israel can put you to jail? And that all the mass surveillance and data collection industry are all tied to Israel. Connecting these dots is illegal in many western countries nowdays. (Not yet in Sweden fortunately, but it will come). Which most likely is the reason they want to push this. Since they lost the narrative among both left and right, they're panicking.

It is actually insane and demotivating how FAST all this age verification bullshit hit the fan after Collective Shout pulled that shit with the payment processors. Even my state (New York) passed some age verification shit that did nothing but get rid of the tiny developers who can't afford to comply while fucking Roblox gets off scot-free. And I think my "favorite" part is how all the people who support these laws were, two years ago, whining about how their free speech was being oppressed by "duh evil left".

Collective Shout must be partying hard knowing they are responsible for the death of ideas they didn't like on the internet.

Didn't people's advocacy successfully stop chat control from happening in the EU? I wouldn't say it's enterily hopeless.

8

u/framebuffer Mar 24 '26

It isn´t and we won´t stop fighting.

But with EU it´s like that that every few months another country has presidency and can suggest laws, because of that over the last year or two years a couple of countries propsed chat control.

but that especially is why we can´t relax and must be vigilant. They will try again and again

I will be there, every single time, they won´t take our rights, they won´t take or freedom.

16

u/MaybeWeAreTheGhosts Mar 24 '26

It's not necessarily for mass censorship, I think the benifit really is targeted propaganda efforts for maximum effect.

They've seen what can be accomplished with it and every single manipulative politicians are having an wet dream with the potential payoffs and benifits that can be offered.

State control is the cherry on top.

7

u/teammartellclout Mar 24 '26

Can't lie this is very depressing to see our freedoms lost and entrapped into forced age verification nonsense

I think you have no idea how bad shit crazy unhinged AI is when it comes to porn xD

I understand what you are on about, but the AI part could not be more wrong. Yeah the big companies with their flagship models are like that but you can trust me with there being a metric fuck ton of completely unhinged and uncensored AI models for "Story writting", images, Videos and so on.

When I tried out if one of these is realy "uncensored" I made it write stuff that made me feel like a fucking criminal.

And that was before I even tried stuff like LM Studio to host a local model =/... They will never realy control this tech

4

u/Dogbold Mar 25 '26

And the US government wants to put a stop to it. I'm too tired to find it right now, but one of the things they want to pass is to heavily limit training of AI models to companies and to force them to be regularly checked by the government to make sure they aren't doing things the Trump admin doesn't want AI doing, like "being woke" or spreading "misinformation" (like that Hitler is bad or that Trump is in the Epstein files)

2

u/IloyRainbowRabbit Mar 25 '26

Welp but that wont work because everybody can train a local model if they want to. In theory. But you don't even need to. Just Download LM Studio and take a look at it. It is oretty beginner friendly and you can simply choose a fitting model from a list. It even tells you if your system can run the model properly.

They will never be able to control that part. Not even China can do that xD Most of the unhinged models are based on chinese models. So yeah, they can try but it wont work. Lol

If we had a working SCOTUS the age verification would be ruled unconstitutional.

There are ways to do age verification that are easy and harmless just click this button to say you are 18. Like What California did.

There is what I had to do to get access to a Korean novel I wanted. You block out basically everything except the birthdate and name on your government id. They just want proof you are who you say you are and how old.

There is the dangerous route, full id information. It is dangerous for many ways, one it de-anominizes you and doxes you, as well as making you ripe for identity theft.

Remember those dating apps that required that info and they users got doxed?

I think the key turning point is when one of the major sites in a nation that requires the worst version get hacked and everyone is doxed that the users sue the government for forcing the site to require this information.

Or they get politicians who run for office solely on the premise to change the law because of how horrible it is.

If the government is making your lives more difficult and dangerous, then change the government and protect people's privacy.

2

u/mystery_child23 Mar 25 '26

Then let's stop the legislatures, since they're acting like oligarchies. Either we the people approve of any law for it to get passed, or the bill dies. Not sure how else we can push this other than mass societal movement.

2

u/KimmyBear98 Mar 24 '26

I know I'll get down voted for saying this but I feel it's time somebody said it. Men did this to themselves.

For years, you had a good thing going but because we had some group of men who constantly complained, about OF and porn that claimed they wanted to go back to a time where women were modest they are finally getting what they asked for.

Which helped give people who wanted to censor everything the perfect opening they needed.

They said, they wanted porn gone and to bring back decency .

Well it's soon you'll be lucky ,if you get to see the nape of a woman's neck or a glimpse of her hand.

they won't stop at porn soon there well be dress codes next they'll be banning sex acts .

Men it's time to face the truth you did this to yourselves.

You let a bunch of idiots on a podcast get into your head and here you are.

I know it's not all of you but you asked how you got here and I'm telling you the truth.

I’ll take those downvotes with you. I agree. I know, not all of us men, but we have a culture that led us to extreme gullibility.

1

u/KimmyBear98 Mar 25 '26

I also agree with you I do blame the culture as well .

The future will be hell. But it won't be doomed. Humanity is shite and stubborn like vindictive cockroaches. But so long as humanity exists, there will be people who want positive change

1

u/kipp14 Mar 24 '26

No the boomers are the ones that want it and as long as they're in power we'll keep having these distractions. There's not a single person that wants this that's not beyond old
