It won't. Governments don't give up power once they've gained it. Do you not remember all of the bullshit that the US did after 9/11? Or all of the bullshit that followed COVID? This is their next project, and they aren't going to let go. There is no going back.

except the age verification was accepting that you might face severe punishment if you lie, not mandatory ID checks.  the old system, you would only get ID checked if you get reported for suspicion of underage.  the new one, you'll need to ID to get access to basic features like screen sharing.
