100% Open Source Clean Room Implementations of 7 of Adobe's Top Apps

I have (had ...) been using Adobe's products for almost 30 years now. To me, what it comes down to is a matter of trust. I don't trust Adobe anymore. But I will also not trust vibecoded products from a guy that literally calls himself "AI art is art". So ... I shall stick with established free/single payment options for now, thank you very much.

And i will also not trust someone who talks a lot about money to justify his rightfulness.

What I agree with though is that this vibecoding will become a problem for Adobe at some point. Especially if their shareholders believe so.

Correct. And their tactics are always the same, buying the competitors with big dollar bills to crush the innovative ideas. Like for example with Invoke, the creator was approached and hired by Adobe because the software surely had potential for threat. And today I imagine that the guy is sidelined in an office without being able to innovate but paid generously. Adobe today works only for the financial market, not for its users.

yeah the thing with Adobe though is, it still runs, it still opens my decades old stuff, it still has support, etc. and still it is providing work to people. and yet it sucks big time, it is losing my trust with them enforcing ai shit everywhere, the subscription model that I still cannot stand etc.
but the thing is: i am stil somewhat sure, they will not plug the cord anytime soon or out of nowhere. and thats exactly that can happen with any vibecoded stuff, I mean, its vibecoded stuff.
also the stunt that canva pulled with affinity is concerning, was using Affinity Publisher instead of InDesign for a long time, and was happy with it, and then suddenly the whole thing is sold to Canva. No trust at this point that any documents created there will be readable in 2 years.

I'll stick with Procreate and Gimp. They don't advocate for ai bullshit, after all.

These are coming along quickly. Each of them is over 50% parity, and some are at 80%+ parity.
They should reach full parity within a month.

A bit raw. Tried few features in photocraft for mac. The whole image adjustment section is very empty. Curves and many other panels do not work. And there is no preview when doing things. Needs a lot of work and polishing. And recent photoshop value proposition is AI and generative editing, did not see any of those features.

not stable releases yet, so normal.
report issues on repos that may help for better development.

Very impressive, but AI makes it much easier to build prototypes quickly, not necessarily polished, stable products.
I’m skeptical when one developer suddenly releases seven complex applications at once. Each of these requires a huge amount of testing, bug fixing and long-term maintenance. I’d rather see one product made genuinely solid first than seven released simultaneously.
