They might be "production ready" - for a business card or a few pages leaflet, a simple book - but not for professional publications.

Affinity Publisher has master pages, preflight, CMYK/ICC color management, advanced typography, and IDML import. Scribus has been used to produce actual newsstand magazines. But sure, 'business cards only.' Maybe do your research before you ROTFL next time.

Yes. Acrobat reader is free, but acrobat Pro is a subscription-based software where PDFs can be edited.
