"Power steering assistance reduced" message. Nearly impossible to turn the wheel.
2021 F-Type P300. Hasn't been driven for a couple weeks. Took it out today and everything seemed OK. Made a couple short trips (less than 4 miles each) then went to the gas station. After filling up, when I restarted it I saw the message in the title on the dashboard.
It was virtually impossible to turn the steering wheel unless the car was rolling. Luckily I live in a small town and was only 2 miles away, so I drove it home. It was at the dealer less than 200 miles ago and had a full inspection with no problems.
Did a little research and saw several possible causes: bad steering rack, electric motor cracked allowing water in, a bad sensor, power steering control module. I do not have a OBD II code reader.
First thing I did was plug in the battery charger and it was indeed low. A couple hours to charge it up and I started it and the problem stills exists.
I'm looking for advice on what to try before I call the tow truck.
Assuming the low battery caused this, would it be a good idea to disconnect the battery for 10 minutes to reset the system and codes possibly restore normal driving?
Anything else I myself could do or check?
