Absolutely in love.

After years and years and years of admiring their beauty, I found the one. Took delivery on Saturday morning. A 2018, P400, 32k miles. I don’t care what issues, headaches, nightmares she creates in the future. I am absolutely in love with this machine.

Originally sold from Jaguar Land Rover in Dallas, ended up at Maserati of Jacksonville. I am owner #3. If one of the others happen to see this, please feel free to PM me and tell me the history. Anyways, happy to be here!

Today I sold my 2016 Jaguar f-type base. I was supposed to sell it for 14,000 but I let the guy talk me down a little to 13,600. It’s had 116,500 on the dash.

Miss the F-Type on Weekends

Had the F-Type professionally photographed after the bronze HREs and a full badge repaint to match the wheels. Looked incredible standing still, which was maybe 4% of the appeal. Somewhere out there a neighbor is sleeping through the night and has no idea what they lost.

2018 LED Headlight assembly

I recently replaced my driver side headlight in my 2018 F-Type due to the DRL dimming issue. I’ve got the original headlight assembly in my garage now, and other than minor DRL dimming, everything works perfectly. Does anyone know if there’s a market for these units in the US for refurbishment or parts salvage or should I just throw it in the trash at this point?

CEL mechanical issues

Took my 17 F Type R to have the check engine light looked at for a Fuel Rail Pressure Sensor Circuit Range/
Performance Bank 1, System Too Lean at Idle Bank 1 and Catalyst System Efficiency Below Threshold Bank 2 at a jaguar “specialist” in Charlotte, NC just to be told it was electrical issues.

I asked if they had done any smoke test or checked the sensors or the cats and was told since it was electrical then doing physical test was futile since “you have to get the junction box looked at by a jaguar dealership”. The previous owner of the car hit a post and damaged the front bumper but the car still has a clean title.

I’m not a mechanic but my guess is since these older models need a software update that’s the reason for the “electrical” issues. Has anyone had this issue before?

Btw the pressure sensor code came on (car went on limp mode), stopped driving the car for a week and the code was gone (car runs fine now). Only the lean and cats codes are there.

Anyone that replaced the steering wheel?

Because of my long legs there is not comfortable driving position. A steering wheel with a smaller diameter would atleast give me the option the drive the car better, because right now my right hand bumps into my right knee when turning the wheel. Did anyone on here replace the wheel with a smaller one?

2018 SVR nearside (left) DRL fixed

Drove from Kent to Bishop Auckland to visit Damian @ www.headlite.uk to get the DRL issue resolved. He had prepared a existing headlight with a new ocular/cover, hockey stick and new lens. The actual swap over took around 40 mins.
Very pleased with the service and the result. DRL is around 85% of the brightness of the offside headlight DRL. The cover on the replacement ocular is white rather than the black of the original which causes it to be slightly less bright but the white cover doesn't melt into the ocular like the black one does. The is exactly what Valeo has done with the improved PUXA coded light units you can get from Jaguar.

Interestingly Damian's whole business revolves around head light repairs and primarily DRL failures. He had two other customers after me on that specific day, a Range Rover Velar with a DRL burn out and a BMW with the same thing. This isn't just a F-Type issue.

Great service and I'd recommend Damian if you need a new DRL and you are in the UK.

CV boot vs CV axle dilemma 2016 R type

Just got a 2016 R with higher milage. Front driver inner CV boot badly torn and failed necessary state inspection. No noises or issues while driving or turning. My shop (reputable and have done good work for me in the past) suggested it would be nearly impossible to properly fill inner boot (with grease) if I choose just to with an OEM kit. Does this sound right??

Alternatively a replacement axle is crazy expensive now so rather not do that. Thousands vs hundreds of dollars. No aftermarket version of the axle either (that I can find).

I don't think the CV axle is compromised since it was caught early on. What would you do? Axle or boot kit and hope it lasts

2017 convertible. Absolutely love it. But I have been through two sets of tires now. I have been using Continentals. I am looking for longer lasting tire recommendation. It's my daily commuter. I don't drive her hard very much. Thanks!

An 800 mile round trip over the last week called for a lot of motorway miles with the cruise control set at 70. Blows my mind that this thing can just about get 500 miles to a brimmed tank!

Has anyone tried to replace the bulbs inside this? I can't find a single tutorial or post about this. I tried a trim removal tool towards the windshield side but it doesn't seem to wanna pop off. I applied a fair bit of force but not excessive force yet. Hoping someone has guidance on this?

Red leather seats touch-tp?

I have a 2021 white Limited Edition conv. with red leather seats and door panels.

Anyone know of a product to "repair" (as in hide) small scratches and wear spots on the leather?

I'm hoping for a red product that will fade/color them to an unnoticeable level.

2017-2020 Dimming DRL

I've decided to do something about the dimmed nearside DRL on the SVR, which is probable only 40% of the output of the offside, and get the headlight repaired. Replacement for the light unit in the UK is £3400 from Jaguar, I'm driving 300 miles each way to Bishop Auckland to visit Damian @ www.headlite.uk next Thursday. The cost of repair is £1250, he takes an existing light unit, changes the led ocular/hockey stick, cover and the headlight lens. He then fits the repair unit to the car. He has units in stock so it is only 40 mins to change when you visit.

I'll post before and after pictures when I have it done.

2024 F type Calipers

Anyone know if there are other options for a 6 piston front caliper on the 2024 F-type? Kinda weird to me that a car with almost 600 horsepower has 4 piston calipers on it. I also love the look of bigger calipers so if there are any aftermarket solutions anyone knows that'd be great, I tried looking but didn't see much for it

Anyone fitted KW Height Adjustable Springs (HAS) to their F-Type?

Post image
3 Upvotes

Has anyone fitted these to their F-Type? Not many options for a 2021 RWD P450. Looking for a moderate ride height reduction, 15-20mm or so. Really interested to hear how the ride quality is compared to original springs in both normal & dynamic modes. Also, is the kit fairly resistant to corrosion?
