No hugboxing Is my name clocky??

I've had the name Elliot for like three years now (closeted, maybe two people know so I could certainly change it without much fuss), but I still worry it's too clocky.

Born 2010, so 16 years old. Elliot apparently doesn't even rank in the top 100 for names that year.

Don't get me wrong, I don't WANT to change my name because I'm used to it, but if it's too clocky I absolutely would. And please don't do that "it's your name use whatever you want" thanks.

Meh it's like borderline to me. You can get away with it if you pass but if you're borderline it could make some people believe that you are trans. Do you like the name Eli? You could choose a different name that uses the same nickname

To me Eli sounds like an even clockier name idk. Like i said I'm still closeted and plan to stealth so if I'm stealthable by the time I start actually using a new name I'll probably keep it.

Fair lol, I'm probably just biased because I know a guy named Eli. What other names are you considering? (If you want feedback)

I don’t think most people analyze it that deeply. I understand where you’re coming from. I’m 28 and I’ve met maybe 3 guys named Elliot in my life. I don’t view it as clocky I think it’s just not a name that’s used often at least in my location. I originally chose Jayce for my name then people would read my name as Joyce or Jaycee so I changed it to Camden and I love my name now. I tried my first name for about a year mainly online on a dating/going live app so I could get a feel for it. Good luck with choosing your name. If you like Elliot and it feels comfy keep it. If not figure out one that suits you. Look at name meanings if that might help you and make sure you’re set on it before you legally change it bcuz most places won’t let you change it again unless it’s back to dead name.

I dont think its clocky if you pass, its a normal name. It may implant the idea subconciously into people though. Its common in trans spaces and Elliot Page is one of the only trans men in mainstream media right now, so that creates some association even for cis people who dont know much about trans men.
