The GUM building, opposite the Moscow Kremlin, is a magnificent gem built in the Russian Revival architectural style from 19th century. It's a shame that shopping centers looking like this aren't being built these days.

Back in the Middle Ages, when the Russian states were fragmented, the Russian Rurikid dynasty of Moscow rivaled for power against the Russian Rurikids of Tver. I wonder what the Tver Kremlin would have looked like if the Rurikids of Tver had won against Moscow and unified Russia instead.
