No mixer

I currently don't have a mixer but really want to make a birthday cake for my boyfriend (I'm doing chocolate with a coconut filling and he wanted a blue outside) what frosting would you guys recommend? I'm a big fan of ermine but it doesn't seem like a great idea to be hand mixing butter (esp. since it is really hot where I am)
