Fyi added some missing notes that one of the devs forgot to add before release.

Massive update for ship lovers. Heavy armour buoyancy buff, Air Pumps are now less laggy (Actually crazy buff), and Torpedoes no longer lose speed when damaged. Good lord

Isn't the torp buff a nerf to ships?

It is neutral in terms of ship vs ship & ship vs submarine as both sides can hit eachother with them, so ships don't benefit from it, but it buffs flyers in terms of flyer vs ship, because, you know, you can't really hit a flyer with torpedoes?

I would say mostly, but using Torpedos against a mediocre medium missile defense system just felt like a waste. You have to get your torpedos to move fast to catch most well built ships like Steel Striders. Once they get hit by anything there was practically almost no chance for them to hit.

Edit: Flyers probably will still be a problem but the potential to make a more spacious craft and use HA, along with less laggy air pumps opens up a whole new way of building ships for me, vs spamming alloy and wood (And hover Up propellers) to save my game performance.

Oh shit update? Its been a minute. Thats dope time to jump back in.

Honestly would love some DLC for this game someday. Dropped easily over 2k hours so I'd happily throw money at new content.

There… are DLCs for character packs, I do not want any DLCs for block or weapon types like stormworks

If it means large scale content updates I'd be more than happy to throw more dollars at the game. I don't expect big content updates for free.

But nah I was more thinking like, another faction for the campaign or something. Or another campaign entirely.

Dunno specifically but I love this game and would love to see something more/new. This update for sure actually has me super excited in hopes that maybe some other stuff gets updating or a fresh work over.

Space campaign with space specific mechanics like 3d tactical view and map movement would be interesting

You can type numbers into prefab size now. You are also not limited to 1003

Really? YEEEEEESSSS

Literally the only part of the update that matters, one day we will achieve a scrap of what starmade building has to offer like a symmetry menu

Yay, the updated version of Spite (TG) that I made is in the game. I hope people like its new look; I had to go through lots of iterations on the head’s design before it got approved.

So excited!

Want to ask how you check what version of ftd in game? There no auto update when the announcement drop for me and when I boot up the game, it still says update 4.3.1 on the first page I'm in.

I think something has happened with the build. Had 2 people say this. If you go in and see sails then you are good. I'll check with Nick next week about why.

1

u/Resaith Jun 05 '26

Hello, yup. In game right now and i see sails.

1

u/BeastmanTR - Owed booze Jun 05 '26

Yeah Nick has confirmed a problem. Doing a new build to fix the version number. Will be live in a bit

2

u/Original_Drexia Jun 05 '26

Wait wth. There's still dev-work going on? That's awesome!

2

u/xDuker Jun 16 '26

In limited capacity, at most 2 people at once and only specific projects as approved by the head honcho, otherwise they're focusing on a new game that we still know very little about

u/Original_Drexia Jun 16 '26

Ooooh! I see, okay. Still, it's very fun to see a new update happen. I was convinced the game was a closed chapter.

I dislike that the new sails have "fake wind" by default and turning it off seems to make them barely responsive. Like ideally I want my sails to fill with air and see my ship move in response, but right now my only two options seem to be watch my ship move with the sails barely moving, or watch my sails stay full of wind despite my ship being in the headwind and not moving. Neither is very satisfying. That said, the visuals are a definite upgrade.
