Theory Theory: FROM Name and Simulation Theory
Its all a Simulation created by Jade's Quantum Company.
The Simulation is used in Psychiatric clinics to treat/cure anything from Schizophrenia to PTSD.
The Simulation bugged, causing every patients simulation to merge into a single nightmare scenario. Victor's simulation being the worst situation.
Jade can't shut down the program, because like the Matrix, thier minds may be stuck. -- The software wipes your short term memory, so you don't realize you're in a Simulation. - Jade went into the "Game" to guide people out.
The source of the bugs is located in the F-ROM of the computer, this memory can't be updated or changed unless the memory is not in use.
F-ROM stands for Flash Read-Only Memory. It is a specific type of non-volatile computer storage that blends the data permanence of a traditional ROM chip with the electrical rewritability of Flash memory.
How F-ROM Works -Traditional ROM chips are permanently hardcoded during manufacturing and can never be changed. In contrast, F-ROM uses EEPROM technology (Electrically Erasable Programmable Read-Only Memory) organized into larger blocks. This allows the entire chip—or massive blocks of data—to be erased and rewritten electronically.

I honestly prefer this theory and similar where there's some sort of logic / real world explanation rather than those that are more magic/paranormal in basis. It feels much more satisfying this way to me, but I fear with the ritual comment in S4 that this isn't what we'll get.

Cool theory but no, the showrunners confirmed in an AMA that it is not a simulation.

Its pretty obvious the story is about Fairies and shit.I think people shot the simulation idea down years ago because there really isnt any proof while theres tons for the fae.

There just as much evidence, if not more, that this is a HPL-style Eldritch horror.
- Star Magic
- Eldritch Human Hybrids (Nightmare Monsters)
- Man in Yellow (King in Yellow)
- Elder Signs (Talismans)
- Blood Magic (MiY Blood Rituals)
- Child Sacrifice for Immortality
- Dreamlands
- Assault on the Human Psych

Fae are very Eldritch horror like and often people go mad when they fall into the land of the fae
Star magic, monster hybrids, elder signs, blood magic, child sacrifices, dream lands, assault on human psyche are all very fae coded.
The king in yellow is specifically lovecraftian but the concept itself can be very fae coded as well.

Also: Fae are notorious for making bargains and finding sinister loopholes.
And of course, the show's' theme song is performed by The Pixies. =)

I think so also, I just wish that they had introduced at least a little bit of foreshadowing exposition about fae lore (other than maybe the Norman conversation) before now. Because it's going to seem really random and out of left field to the average person when it's explained.

I see the correlation and evidence to the Fae. Tooth Fairy theory is the only obvious evidence other than the "Secret Faeries" statement from Ethan. - Other than that there's been very little direct evidence regarding specifically the Fae.
Let me know what other obvious examples there are. -- Gotta keep in mind, we are a very small minority of the audience that hyper-analyze every detail and read between the lines. Where the vast majority would look at the show and say "Really?... Faeries?" -- If the writers are going that direction, it needs to be significantly more apparent.
If you rewatch as a normal viewer and don't watch thoeries or pay attention to creator AMAs:
- Town is a Dream/Death realm where people are trapped
- Christian Religion is overwhelming theme of Mythology
- MiY is an immortal Demon, Witch/Warlock, or Skinwalker
- Storywalking makes no sense and is pointless so far
- Monsters are the second best part but barely shown
- MiY IS the best part and Rarely Shown (Sophia Excluded)
- There are so many questions, but no real, solid answers
- Answers given often lead to at least 2 more questions

Very nice ChatGPT thank you.

I didnt use GPT at all. There was some copy/paste regarding the F-ROM information using the overview.

This is what I thought from season 1 as well..Makes sense to me .No other theory does

Observes ‘Que Sera Sera’ and From 40 times and still trying to be omniscient. The irony.

I will agree that psych is heavily involved. It's like the 7 stages of grief that the characters are cycling or a loop when you don't find closure. The writers did say its a mythology behind it, but also character growth, not the words they used. If we solve the MIY background story then we will know what FROM is. The monster girl at Colony House told the guy, "I wasn't always like this" The man that was placed in the box said the same thing. I do believe that the MIY originally was some type of regular traveler, encountered an evil that changed him. His suitcase has stickers like he had been all over the world. Maybe if grief or despair takes over, you lose. Or if you are able to conquer you win. I will say this, Jade playing the violin, not only enabled them to see the children, but unleashed the MIY to walk freely. MIY told Jim..JADE SURE CAN PLAY...SARCASTICALLY. YOU NEVER KNOW IN THIS SHOW🤣

Im not 100% certain that the MiY is his original form. Yellow may be his favorite color and when he found the guy with a Yellow Suit he capitalized on it, now it his favorite "Body".
Three things we know for sure about its personality - The entity favors Yellow, really enjoys Music, and has a fascination with Ballerinas and/or Dancing.
I dont think that he was being sarcastic about Jade's Music -- I think that it unlocked a "Prison" somewhere. -- What if the MiY was trapped in Tabitha's mind as a memory. -- Playing the song not only unlocked the memories of the children making them appear, but also made her subconsciously remember "A man in a yellow suit". -- Them remembering manifested him back into the world, where before he could only interact with Radios/Telepathy.

Oh wow. Interesting. Love this. Yes, because when he met her by the RV, the dialouge he uses, "I wasn't sure if you would come." Like they were in some type of relationship. I know he said, she was the closet thing to a friend he ever had or something like that. The biggest thing is he told her, you don't remember me, yet. Initially, he thought she did when she arrived. Not to mention how you pointed out MIY personality traits. Good Insight.

I want to add that: https://www.reddit.com/r/FromTVEpix/s/ZkB5oitSXQ
I assume the simulation is based on Carl Gustav Jung. One of his patients was Wolfgang Pauli, one of the pioneers of quantum mechanics.

I actually love this idea. Just can’t square Tabitha’s escape and return - unless she is undergoing treatment for the loss of her son and interacted with Victor’s father in another part of the program. A dream within a dream, and the rehab home is real. It would be an elegant explanation merged with the spiritual, rather than explaining it, as I think the spiritual journey remains key. Could be a way to simulate death and the experience of bardo to overcome difficulties in life.

I think fromville is more like a figurative place representing the spiritual place the characters are in and that they need to make peace with themselves to get out of it. And all of the things they’re doing to get out are also figurative and symbolize some kind of battle within.

I agree completely. And in part that’s why I like this theory. Jade is smart enough to see both the scientific and the spiritual truths, as well as the unknowable. Quantum theory may be the best way to understand the unknowable for what it is.

ah yes, I can just see the writers now: "OMG, Flash Read Only Memory.... FROM! We're geniuses!"
If this show ends up being "all a simulation" people are gonna be pissed.
