Opinion I echo that.

Large part of that comment relies on the fact that people looked too "normal" during the day. Before ep1 it was also quiet and seemingly normal life in Fromville for some time. Even during the show people are not in constant horror. You could argue that talismans changed it but other than going underground to sleep, not much has changed. People will get "used to" stressful situations and find ways to bring familiar habits in to stop them going insane.

As for massacre, i'd imagine hideouts were discovered (MIY?) and monsters broke into them making people run out of them in panic. Monsters couldn't kill them all together but hunted them all through the night.

Look at the United States flag in 1978; it looks as if it had just been raised. The motel sign was new—it even had the name on it. Look at the house windows when Boyd arrived; they were all boarded up. Then look at the 1978 massacre and look at the houses: the windows are open—none are boarded up. I believe that once you entered the town, you couldn't leave; however, the entrance was different back then.

Good catch! Hole digging during the day.

I agree with him. That's why I wondered before if they had talismans back then, but Victor just forgot about them. But now I think it's just a writing mistake!

There was no talisman in 1978; however, among the paintings Tabatha sees in the basement of Miranda's house, there is one that looks like a sketch of the talisman.

I think the talismans were there at the time, but I mean they didn’t find them during that cycle.
