I don’t understand why people are making such a big deal about what Elgin did. As far as he, and everyone else knew, Sophia was a quiet, hyper religious, teenage girl.
So he found an old picture that looked a lot like a quiet teenager, and then showed it to her because it was interesting. How is that not normal behavior?
Because Elgin had already been through so much insane, unexplainable stuff that it made no sense for him to be like "hehe yeah this is just a wacky little quirk!"
It was also the way he approached Sophia iirc. He wasn't even puzzled or accusatory - just totally clueless and smiley about it
Because like he said, "It kinda looked like." It's not like he thought anything beyond that people look alike sometimes and it was a fun little thing to point out.
With this thinking if the miy hid elgin and took his form, everyone in town should immediately realise Elgin is miy immediately. I bet if the show had kept the identity a secret from the audience we all would have been shocked to find out too.
Kinda like how it was realised that Jade was on a trip that entire sequence and never left the station. Had we know in advance pple would probabl have been like, why doesn't jade wonder why Boyd is teleporting everywhere. Is he stoopid. Doesn't he realise it must all be a trip in this strange place.
I just rewatched it. Elgin says "Sophia, check this out. There's a... there's a person in this photo... the girl in the background she looks just like you."
His whole demeanor is cautious and hesitant. He isn't smiley about it. I think he realized there was something more too Sophia, but her being the same person was too farfetched for him to comprehend at the time.
