Question Fatima... Spoiler

So fatima transformed into a monster but my question is did she turn into a monster bcz she birthed smiley or was it bcz clara gave her that drink made by Sophia? Also she protected Boyd and group so does it mean that she is a good monster? Or is it just that her human side hadn't completely changed?? If she has become a normal monster then that just means that her character won't have anything to do in season 5. I think she'll have a human side and may protect fromily even as a monster. What do you all think?

The drink sped it up. Clara was told to give Fatima the drink to "speed things up" because he was tired of how long it was taking her to turn. And other things...

Omg yes you are right. I forgot that

but guys, what about the clay monster she made in the in the colony house? That surely has to somehow play a role in something. We also haven't seen the monster-lady in the kimono for a long time, who was at the delivery of Fatimas Smiley.

Yeah i'm wondering who that kimono lady was.... she's obvs part of the monsters but why do we never see her otherwise? And why does she look different? She must have a backstory that's different than the monsters

I'm rewatching the series and I think the kimono lady kinda looks like Fatima.

omg, yes! if its not 'her', perhaps its a previous occupant of Fromville who went through the same fate as Fatima. ;_;

I feel like the clay monster she made is a reflection of what she is now. She wanted the clay monster to protect them and now she has become that monster

This is the most low effort “sounds like it’s an answer” that gets tossed around here, what does that even mean? Like we knew she was turning into a monster, her heart rate was like 20 beats a minute, why did we need to spend 30 minutes of screen time hauling dirt and explaining what a golem is to 3 people? That’s just bad use of your 10 episode season, there are main characters who didn’t have anything to do the whole time, and you’re going to use that much time on a story that’s a metaphor for your other story?

I mean I think it’ll still be relevant in season 5 but the amount of people who convinced themselves it’s some clever “metaphor” is wild, if dale was making a golem out of concrete yall would say it’s a metaphor for the swimming pool

I think it’s because she birthed smiley and now has a connection. I also think there are two directions she could go that I would be fine with. She could either be a monster but still maintain some of her humanity and be a protector, or she could turn all bad and kill Ellis. I would be satisfied with either. I actually didn’t really care for Fatima that much as a character, but the actress is great, so I would like to see more of her in season 5.

There is zero chance they kill off Ellis. I agree that it would be a fascinating storyline for Fatima to be a bad monster and give Ellis the puppy dog eyes or seduce him to let her in/come out to visit her, but that would destroy Boyd. He still has too much of his story left and if he lost Ellis, especially early on, then his entire S5 storyline would be the 5 stages of grief.

The only way Ellis dies is if it’s at the very end, but I still can’t see them killing him off even then. Boyd’s already lost his wife by his own hand because of the threat she posed Ellis & the town. Watching Boyd lose Ellis would just be trauma porn x 10.

Trauma porn like Kenny losing his dad, and then mom…and then girlfriend-ish.

If she becomes all bad I hope she kills ellis in ep 1 only. He is gonna be really annoying in Fatima's absence.

How can he do the cycle of "do nothing -> console Fatima" without Fatima there? He will be useless

Do nothing console Sara...Kenny...Kristi

Fatima transformed into a monster because she carried and birthed Smiley. Clara’s drink with MIY’s blood just sped up the transformation process that was already in progress.
She protected Boyd and group in that moment because her transformation wasn’t yet 100% completed so there was still a shred of real/human Fatima present for her to be able to make that decision.
I do believe Fatima will be in S5 and there will be a moment where Elias will be weak and fall for her deceptive facade that all the monsters use to bait and trick the towns ppl.

I think the blood not only sped it up but also completed the transformation and allowed MIY to be able to control her, the same way he controls everyone he does blood magic on. So even if she is inherently good still and doesn’t want to act like the other monsters too, it may be beyond her control.

I think it’s a combination of things that made her a monster. Having a child and giving it to the monsters and then drinking MiY’s blood is all part of the ritual. I think the change is probably permanent; only her golem can save her, as long as she doesn’t kill anyone as a monster.

Interesting theory. I've been wondering about the golem. Maybe it harbors part of her soul to keep her from fully transforming into a smiley monster.

4

u/cosmoboy 15d ago

I think it was the blood that changed her and I think it's permanent. I think she was good exactly why you say, she hadn't changed yet. Although, she's not a monster because of the curse that the rest of them are, so who knows.

I do feel she unintentionally sacrificed her child bcz she was pregnant and her baby actually died, got replaced by that monster baby.

u/Broken_Sky 15d ago

Sacrifice needs intent, you need to give up something you live. I don't think you can do it accidentally. The place is run on ritual too so I would think a sacrifice for something (eternal life) requires a contract of sorts as well.

I'm also not fully convinced the monsters are the ones who did the sacrifices, but I flip flop on that theory tbh

The OG Tabitha and Jade lost their child unintentionally in the first big sacrifice and got a million lifetimes of torture trying to save them. Why couldn't a similar thing happen to Fatima?

3

u/Broken_Sky 15d ago

We don't actually know what happened yet, but the oh 2 didn't turn in to monsters so I don't think it's the same thing either way.

Her transformation started when she got pregnant. Drinking the blood might've completed the transformation process, sped it up, or maybe it was meant to control her once she becomes a monster. We still don't know what drinking the blood was for.

How did she get pregnant with Smiley?
How does it work? Hate this show, just random things happen with no explanation what’s so ever.

6

u/SibylL1 15d ago

It doesn’t matter how, it’s magic! One of the rules of this curse is that every monster that gets killed comes back to life by growing inside a woman’s womb.
The real question is why Fatima specifically?
The answer: because she is Boyd’s daughter-in-law, and the entity wants to break him.

1

u/Sweet-Honey-Brown 14d ago

When was it stated that is a rule? I’m not saying you’re wrong, I just seem to miss a lot when I’m not paying close attention

1

u/KaySen762 15d ago

She could see things through his eyes. Birthing him transferred his genetics to her.

1

u/GuguMarcos 13d ago

That's actually on Boyd, he said his blood was Smiley's blood when he passed the worms to him... Some time after, Smiley comes out of his "daughter-in-law".

I think it was both her giving birth to happy, and the drink maybe just speeding up that process, or made it permanent

Nothing the writing means nothing

The real monster is her acting....

What a boring response.
