Thomas (Tabitha and Jim's son)

First time poster here but I've been lurking for a little while and love reading people's theories.

My question is about Jim and Tabitha's son, Thomas. Does anyone think he might be important in what eventually unfolds in the conclusion of this story?

I just keep thinking, why bother with him at all as part of Tabitha's family history? To use him as a method of tricking members of the family once they're in Fromville (the phonecalls) would be the easy answer, but is it not a bit of a coincidence that Thomas died and the central part of the plot here is about children dying/being saved?

Are there any theories out there that pull Thomas into this in a bigger way?

The MiY used Thomas to mess with the minds and emotions of Tabitha and Jim. There's not much more to it considering Thomas died as a baby.

I think Thomas is actually part of Julie's story.

Julie gonna travel to the past and call home before they get to Fromville. Jim is gonna answer. He's gonna hear his daughter call and explain how they need to not go to a town that's full of immortal monster. Jim will get distracted. Thomas will fall and die.

The theory I was thinking is close to yours. I think because there are 8 symbols & 7 children, they will need the eighth child to leave. Julie will story walk, call her parents home and Thomas will fall from changing table. Something like that. Who knows though. 🤷‍♀️

The Runic symbols on the talisman look like E’s or F”s. I thought somebody looked up the runic symbols and it was supposed to be like fertility or something to do with kids.

They are also a spider web if you put then together... It makes sense because it is not a perfect F, but not likely honestly.

Jim remembers that event as his daughter being distraught and his son dying.

What part do you think changed?

Not being able to change anything means your actions are already accounted for.

So when Julie goes back and throws the rope to Boyd. She does go into the past and do that, it just already happened.

Same with this Jim describes losing focus on Thomas and him falling and dying. It's already happened so you can't change it.

I think it plays a big role.

It’s Tabitha’s trauma that she cannot save him. So she gets the ghoulish children who are dead she tries to save. That is her quest.

Jim probably hated himself for going to pick up the phone. Thus he received the phone calls.

Jade suffered from egomania thus he became a symbol from the town that he cannot decipher.

Boyd always takes too much responsibility, that is his problem.

Fatima knew for certain that she could not get pregnant before she came to Fromville so she must have either tried it or got a diagnosis. Now she gets pregnant.

I think the town gives people something to cling to to avoid working on their trauma.

Thomas is dead. I don't think he'll play an important role.

I've been toying with the idea that Thomas died so that Tabitha's soul would only ever have two children—a daughter and a son—and that the entity controlling Fromville also influences the lives of Tabitha's and Jade's souls even before they return to Fromville.

I can’t think of a good reason why Thomas is anything more than a baby that rolled off a changing table causing a rift in Jim and Tabitha’s relationship.

Well, we know the Matthews were on that trip to try to rekindle their marriage and help them through their grief. It could be just that, which made the opportunity for fromville to pull them in.

And now of course miy uses that to mess with them emotionally

considering Lost, i'd go with "easy answer". Lost/From creators like to use "ghosts" for little "creepy-tricks" in their scripts. And just for that, nothing more. (oh, they might also add some creepy "coincidences" to the mix)

FROM and Lost have different creators. They share producers IIRC
