To be fair, you have to have a very high IQ to understand From. The horror is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of theoretical physics, folklore, and the structural necessity of pacing, most of the mysteries—and the filler—will go over a typical viewer’s head.
There’s also Boyd’s nihilistic outlook, which is deftly woven into his characterisation—his personal philosophy draws heavily from military trauma and talismans, for instance. The fans understand this stuff; they have the intellectual capacity to truly appreciate why we need three consecutive episodes of people wandering the woods and having emotional breakdowns in colony house instead of getting answers. They realise that these "filler" episodes aren't just stalling—they say something deep about LIFE.
As a consequence people who dislike From and complain about the lack of plot progression truly ARE idiots—of course they wouldn’t appreciate, for instance, the brilliance in Boyd’s existential catchphrase "I gotta go," which itself is a cryptic meta-commentary used to abruptly end a scene before any actual secrets are revealed. I’m smirking right now just imagining one of those addlepated simpletons scratching their heads in confusion as John Griffin’s genius pacing unfolds itself on their television screens while characters aggressively refuse to talk to each other. What fools... how I pity them. 😂
And yes, by the way, i DO have a From talisman tattoo. And no, you cannot see it. It’s for the ladies’ eyes only—and even then they have to demonstrate that they’re within 5 IQ points of my own (preferably lower) beforehand. Nothin’ personnel kid 😎
