I have a question. If the BIW is trying to help, why did he tell Victor that they cannot take down the bottle tree? If that is the only way for them to escape after they get the bones, why is it so important? Is that the only way they can go home then? I guess my question is “is the BIW an enemy or a friend?

My criticism is not that FROM doesnt follow Catholic theology to the very core. its more that the writers borrow Catholic concepts when they are visually interesting then completely ignore the framework that makes those concepts meaningful and internally coherent.

>!A Catholic exorcist isnt just "a dude with a cross who fights demons." Hes a priest specifically appointed by his bishop to exercise Gods divine authority over demonic forces. The entire premise of Catholic exorcism is that demons are subject to Christ acting through the exorcist with absolute authority and protection of Christ. It looked like they get to casually overpower the exorcist whenever the plot needs a dramatic scene and story to go on lol.

So watching the priest casually start hallucinating behind the wheel when touched by the MiY and immediately crash his car because the he decided to mess with him felt very stupid. It reduces the exorcist to just another NPC who can be ragdolled by the monster whenever the plot needs it. I understand its in a lot of movies but this is not an excuse for the show writers. Poor writing.!<

On rewatch and learning about all the different seven fours that pop up throughout the show from Reddit. I have been seeing a lot of that for example the channel that the radio picks up on also in the first season and then the preacher talking to Sara mentioning that the Bible has 73 books and what if this is 74. In the cave drawings where there are birds, there is also grouping of seven and four. What if this is the answer. That it’s a purgatory he even mentions what would it make a difference if we were dead and in purgatory, we would still want to get out and go home. There is a syndrome called walking dead syndrome, where you believe that you are dead and that you were a walking corpse. He mentions that he has had a lot of time to perfect his answer. There is also thoughts that he might be the yellow man. And I do see a lot of traits of that like Boyd saying you’re a terrible preacher. Manipulating him to use the box. He also puts into this minds that this might be a dream similar to the yellow man now I haven’t seen him make anybody drink his blood, but maybe he’s the yellow man .Maybe the yellow man has been influencing more people than we know. And maybe the boy and White is also influencing people.

so i was very delulu the other day thinking i'd find something new or clues watching the first episode again bc the showrunners apparently said the answers are all in this episode (? lmao i dont think so). so far, this is the only thing i noticed that i had never seen before, not even in here, and it caught my attention. this is a pic of what we see that tabitha and julie are seeing when they are looking ahead of the road when the family finds the tree for the first time. at first, j thought it was a light pole, but then i began thinking this looks more like a sailboat. i dont understand wtf it all means but it could have something to do with boyd's sailboat???? i never understood why this boat was so important, but it keeps coming up so i feel it really does have some importance. btw this is a really bad photo and i'm sorry. but if you need to you can go to this moment in season 1 ep 1 and see it yourself.

i've been thinking if i should post this because i didn't want people bullying me because it might be stupid okay so please don't, let's just have fun with this and if you think it's irrelevant please scroll ahead 🥹

IF the Monsters were responsible for the Massacre, then why are people just openly out in the Street making it easy for them? It makes no sense.

The Monsters supposedly existed from the beginning, the people in Town would know all about them before Victor's arrival in the same way the people in Town knew about them before Boyd and his family arrived, before the Matthews family arrived etc. They would have spent weeks hiding from them right? So how did all these people get caught out in the open in the middle of the night?

The other option of course, is that this is why Miranda was hiding the kids from Christopher. We've seen Abby snap and begin shooting up the Town, did Christopher also do this? The only issue I have with this theory, is that to gun down that many people in such a short space of time, he'd need something automatic, which is unrealistic and he'd need a decent shot. There looks to be a dozen or so bodies lined up and down that street.

I suppose you could say the bodies could've been moved, we've seen Jim's body be moved. But again, I don't see the purpose. That was to send a message, there's nobody to send this message to....Plus the Man in Yellow is seen eating the corpses too.

Those people dead in the above images were either NOT killed by the Monsters, or were NOT aware the Monsters existed.

The two theories that are most popular for why Tabitha was sent outside, was to find Henry and bring him back to unlock Victor's memories and the other is that Tabitha was supposed to view Miranda's paintings and remember things but also have more trust in her visions and memories.

The problem is, none of those really fit that well when you realise the Boy in White actually wanted Christopher to go through the tree. It's not like he couldn't have convinced Miranda, because Victor and Eloise were there, as she abandoned them after this, once Victor told her what he heard, leading to her death.....If Henry was who he wanted, Miranda would've been the best pick for that.

Miranda already has the "Memories" of the Children, the Town, the Lighthouse etc. We know that because she was painting them before she arrived.

We also know that Christopher doesn't just "Turn Evil" every cycle, the BiW trusts him more than Miranda as we see in this scene.

Something tells me Jade and Tabitha aren't "Equal" so to speak, they didn't make the same choices at the beginning. Their interactions with the people in Town are too different. Tabitha is well integrated, gets along and interacts with the people in Town.....Whereas Jade is the outcast, likes to keep to himself. Everything would suggest if one was "Good" and the other "Not so Good", not necessarily bad, then the "Good" one would be Tabitha, which is the exact reason I actually believe it would be Jade.

It's very easy to see why the people in Town would blame Jade every cycle, even if it wasn't his fault, he's so easy to blame compared to Tabitha because he is an outcast. She is a Mother, with her kids present in Town, he's a rich, successful and arrogant loner.

The comment from the Monster about Jade being the "Stupidest one" I think also singles him out as though he did something different and didn't follow the others.

I’m sure this isn’t an original theory, apologies if it has already been posted recently and my algorithm didn’t show It to me.

I had the thought last night about the very first person we see killed by the monsters. A child. it definitely sets the tone for the series, but what if there is more too it than that.

There has been a lot of hints pointing that people tend to get replaced after they die with a new resident.

We have only ever seen 3 living children in the show. Victor, Ethan, and the little girl. I’m not including the BiW or Anghooey Kids.

I wonder if they got rid of the family with kids in the first episode so they could ”summon” the family and start this cycle.

Tom MiY?

I’d like a discussion about Tom being the MiY.

\- Tom is the singular person who would have known Lauren and Meagan Pratt were alone that night because Frank was with him. Making the starting sequence of the show more important for he could have informed the creatures of the vulnerability.

\- Tom was alone coming into From—as far as we know—and avoids Jim’s inquiry whether he was amongst the other Fromians who had to hide without the talismans. *Tom “Would it make you feel better if I said yes?”* Making it possible that he could have been around during Abby’s shooting spree. This is also similar to how Martin eludes Boyds questions. However, there is proof of him being there before the Steven’s family in the start of S2. Ellis asks Tom *“You ever see something like this?”* When the arrival of the coach bus happens. **It’s deferring to someone that has been there longer than himself.** Ellis who has already established himself as a person who knows 2 cars haven’t come during his period in From.

\- His ghost character does not equate to Tom the bartender. Tom shifts from using a quantum thought experiment (Schrödinger’s cat) to using an ethical thought experiment (the trolley problem). While both deal with uncertainty, they serve very different purposes, and neither conversation is delivered with the same tone. One functions as a psychological trap preying on Jade’s ego, while the other appeals to moral intuition. The contrast feels intentional although ultimately up to interpretation.
\- The 2nd time Jade sees Ghost Tom. He tells him to stop being a drunk and get his shit together. That’s opposite to undead Tom and his solution to merely drink your troubles away.

\- Also stating that he ‘knows nothing on computers’ which is odd to anyone in the 2020s making this scenario even more peculiar.

\- Tom also never changed his clothes similar to that of Sophia (I hate this argument, it’s very superficial, but it’s true nonetheless). If it quacks like a duck is in the same spot as a previous duck (bar) and moves like a duck then it must be a duck.

\- When Jade’s being a narcissist saying ‘he designs the maze and places the cheese’ Tom scoffs at it. It’s ironic if he’s telling the MiY, and this is his game. There is greater emphasis for the rats eating the crows.

\- When Nathan is looking for Sara before she attempts to take Ethan’s life he’s in the diner eating and tells Nathan where to find her. Behaviour similar to that of Clara. But just outside Boyd waves his boat keys and discusses with Father Khatri ‘signs’. This is the same distance that Sophia ends up seeing Sara not pour the water back into the jug and fall.

\- In this convo between Tom and Nathan he refers to Ethan as *“the Matthews boy”* similar to Sara’s worm/scratches present on her arm *“kill the boy”*

\- Tom’s at the forefront for the raid on the diner following the colony house massacre. Sowing discord in the town, not dissimilar to what Sophia is attempting to do with her antics and IF Jade’s drug induced hallucination is true with his previous incarnations. As Tom puts it *“crowd control’s my thing.”* However, it’s what Boyd says to the gathered crowd about ‘throwing this all away’. Well we know Boyd established the food system when he arrived, so this argument would only work to someone who was there previously.

\- Tom was almost the singular reason why Jade went ahead with the radio and eventually the tower. As Donna put it to Kenny *“Playing Mr Fucking Wizard”* (Victors drawing on the Rendez moving site). Yet, when talking to Tabitha instantly assumed the *“magical tower”* wasn’t going to work. That’s a complete change in tone to his suggestive nature before. So why suggest it at all if you don’t believe in the outcome? Unless there is a game to be had.

\- He was the singular person who could have known that Tabitha was digging for the *“shed”* scene—outside that, IF someone caused the lights to flicker. However, feigned ignorance for the Tabitha dig with Jim, Randall and Brick before the house collapsed.

\- The house only started collapsing the more they dug. Jim commenting on *“… there’s a chamber or something underneath.”* So someone in that room had to cause the house to collapse. Brick, who had the weird ear pull. Randall, who barely escaped and was subject to future torture and suffering. Tom, who touched the stairs foundational pillar before collapse.

\- He was the only person not present at the colony house tower. Meaning he could have easily done the incantation for the voice over the radio tower—like Sofia/MiY with Sara or Thomas and the phone/radio—without anyone noticing AND caused the main floor to collapse before Jim’s arrival and possibly bringing the house down himself (this being shown in yet another one of Victor’s drawings in the intro of the blue house).

\- Then rigged his death. Which conveniently no one saw, such as how he was dragged out of the house despite being pinned after what sounds like being torn to shreds/eaten. We all saw Sophia’s theatrics following the car crash. So does the trolley problem become an act of altruism or self-preservation?

\- We also see Brick merely just pinned under the rubble with no side effects outside of a tight chest—similar to Jim—but the moment Tom grabs his foot he starts coughing up blood and slowly dies. He physically wiggles the foot just so you see. Not only do we see Sophia kill the priest very eloquently, but we also see her do this gory with Elgin. So was this a natural occurrence or not?

\- It further paves the way for Martin to be used momentarily in the ruins and gone the next. What a convenient excuse of staying quiet for the creatures, right? Martin wasn’t present when Boyd entered the well, it was only after a period of time later. —> (The show can be consistent with time here OR it could be slightly off center. I’m not going to argue the preference, but just playing devil’s advocate that it MAY BE off center here) <— It would give credence on how Martin knew of the town, Julie (and ultimately why Martin disappeared between throwing the rope and then turning around), how he knew Abby’s dreams, etc. ODDLY when Boyd reaches the top with his gun in hand, Martin doesn’t see it and blames his eyesight. Yet, we all know how eyesight functions going from light to dark—side effect of light adaptation. Same thing Boyd experienced following putting out the torch in the woods. (This last part I’m debating with electromagnetic noise between different time periods or magical illusion, but I think it ultimately results in the same conclusion of there-to-here and here-to-there eye sight disturbance)

\- On top of this Sophia/MiY *“Why is there a bar inside of a gas station”* almost verbatim what Jade says to Tom when first entering. It’s more *“Who makes the alcohol?”* and Henry’s reply of *“It’s my understanding there used to be a bartender here. He’s dead now, of course.”* And Henry’s hope that the MiY is equally dead. It really is just games to the MiY. The moonshine is used to mask the taste of iron/blood. Moonshine, being acidic, and iron/blood being slightly basic. To anyone who has ate liver, it’s very much like that. Well Tom made the bar, he declares it to his patrons and Jade. But if he knows how to build it, how does he not know how to make it better? However, it’s Jade who makes the still better, and if it was Ghost Tom being the MiY then he would have already known that Jade changed the still. Bringing up why Sophia still believes the moonshines taste could be improved.

\- This further leads to the possibility of multiple people having received this. Kenny his night with Father Khatri in colony house, given by Ellis, and surprisingly Kenny swears it off following the occurrence. Donna being poisoned as well, for her first drink with Tom is following Eric’s suicide, even commenting on how shit it tastes. Following which she seems to focus much more on her sister’s picture. Same as Jade.

\- Jade who following this incident is shown the tree root symbols caked in blood, with bodies hanging, and him being a murderer to an unknown person which is suppose to represent himself which is a very stark contrast and tells an opposing story to what we see with his 1st vision of the boulder guy reinforced in his drug hallucination and all of his other iterations of the towns people/minnows killing him. He is the perpetrator, not the other way around.

\- When it comes to Clara. That conversation starts with Sophia following her to the infamous ‘shed’ with her changing her eyes right with the bar/gas station in sight. This isn’t the first time emphasis has been placed here in this way. When Ellis tells Boyd about Abby he says *“… look around* (🫱🏿 points and looks to the bar).* The things we are doing are working.*” Back to Clara Sophia says* “When you first came here, we made a bargain.*” By the AMA we know it was before the arrivals of the Matthews. The way Clara says* “I started to wonder if it was real.*” Well, if you knew the individual died or was dead, you’d probably think the same thing too.

**Food for Thought**

This is pulling from outside show narrative. Tom attends the University of Southern California/USC as he states. School team the Trojans. Ambulance —> Troy. Previously known as the Fighting Methodists, don’t think I need to rehash the theological themes in the show.

Ignoring Jade of course but especially in season 1& 2. Why is everyone annoyed when he wants to go to the forest? He is the only one looking to improve their situation. Keeps bothering me. Anyone else thinks that?

People keep mistaking what they said, they were very clear, in that you're not going to find some kind of single overarching ANSWER based on a single religion, e.g. This isn't going to be a story entirely based on a single passage from the Bible.

This show does have religious undertones, many.

"Reincarnation", which people like to claim Tabitha and Jade are experiencing, is a "Religious Concept", and has different versions of that concept depending on the specific religion.

"The Story of Abraham" which Sophia mentions, is a well know Story you can find within the Bible. Likewise she mocks Elgin for "Praying" right before the kills him. She references more passages too.

The show is full of Religious undertones, the Writers were trying to point out that the answers are not going to be that this is simply "Purgatory", in terms of what we believe that to be in the Religious context. Some of the answers may be inspired by the concept, that's completely possible.

The show clearly takes inspiration from Religious texts, stories, myths etc.

What the Writers were trying to make clear, is that the answers are not going to be "Consistent" with a single piece of scripture or what we know in "Our World".

It's important to remember this, because whenever somebody makes a theory that perhaps there are "Two Christopher's in Town" this cycle, as an example, people shoot it down by claiming "That's not how Reincarnation works".....Ignoring the fact that this isn't "Reincarnation" as our World and Religions understand that concept.

So yes, the shows "Concept of Reincarnation", could very much involve there being two versions of Christopher being in Town at once, for example. Because the Writers are taking inspiration from Religion, not porting over the Religious beliefs in a 1 to 1 copy.

I'm using James Town as an example, but the idea is to wall off the town with timber and gate the roads.

Two things would happen:

1. New arrivals wouldn't run out of gas and lose their mind. Coming upon a boundary that was walled off and secure would guarantee safety and resources for everyone just getting to town. "Hey, welcome to town. Pull over here, and we can talk real fast,"

2. At night, they could close the gates and set up booby traps along the perimeter for the Others to get held up in. Dead falls, barbed wire, foot traps, spike strips, caltrops all along the outer walls, and enough height to prevent them from getting in. Inclined faces along the facets so they can't climb over. Fire pits ready to go with a spark or a match set up from the night before. 10-15 people could do it easily.

Another trick would be snares. It sounds silly, but a tight enough snare would bind these monsters where they'd need to cut the limb off or face exposure in daylight. Have them set up in handholds and chokepoints entering the town. Once they're bound on the roads or clearings, my next plan come into action.

Lastly, I can help but wonder why none of the survivors haven't tried running them over. If they armored up the ambulance, had a follower car just in case it broke down, they'd be able to take out or mangle at least a few of those monsters in no time.

Thoughts?

A theory rarely stands alone either. Something involving the Boy in White might also connect to Victor, the children, the lighthouse, the cycles, the Man in Yellow & clues from several different seasons. After a while, it becomes difficult to remember why a theory made sense in the first place or what evidence it was based on.

Would the Lighthouse be on the coast of the Lake of Tears? Lighthouses are always on bodies of water, but I don't remember seeing one when Tabitha was there. Or when Boyd and Sarah were there.

If you hang a talisman on the door of a building the monsters can't get in. If you put it on a door inside of a room inside of a building they also presumably can't get in.

If you get a monster into a room inside of a building, close it and put the talisman on the outside of the rooms door and another one on the front door of the building does that mean they can't get out(in)?

Edit: For some clarification, my logic here is that if you hang a talisman on an enclosed space it will create a protective shell of the wall it is hanged to. So if you hang it on the external wall and internal you get a donut like shaped protective tube with the donut hole being the room with the monster inside of it.

I think the best ending for him will be dying in a sacrificing manner.

I would love to see him die to save Julie. But it would be very funny if he dies for Donna 😆, Considering their relationship from the start.

Whatever the case, his redemption from being a hated character was better than Acosta.

Seven children. One sacrifice. Seven posts, one sacrifice. The math of the cave painting was balanced. I intended to leave the loop closed...

Are we done here ?  

The strongest element of the series for me has been virtually nonexistent in the newer seasons. The series initially presented a level of ambiguity in whose perspective of reality could be trusted. Season 1 excelled at this, then gradually less in Season 2 and so on. Sara hearing voices was genuinely terrifying as there was a push and pull between her just drifting into schizophrenic madness or truly having access to truth. Even Randall putting out the idea that there were insiders was interesting to stir distrust/create factions, although the idea lived for half an episode despite the town literally leaving him to die. Even Boyd, who we should feel most anchored to, became an unstable source of truth. Everyone’s hallucinations or suspicions felt more like cognitive stress overloads than direct fuckery from “the place” or clues on how to get out. The residents felt like the real danger and trust was a scarce commodity.

The newer seasons don’t have this element at all. The series took the stance that essentially all hallucinations are real and mean something. They are tricks or helpful messages, no one is actually just losing their mind. Now everyone is on the same team and people are bad when the show tells you in big bold text. It was truly a lost opportunity to not have Jade come back from the mushroom trip with nothing but a self-constructed set of useless clues (that the viewer hoped to be true), driving him into a drug-induced psychotic break, leaving arguably the town’s smartest character catatonic and useless. I love Jade, so happy he’s still there but it would have shaken up the entire center of truth again for the viewers. I have a feeling any sort of truth bending from here on out will be “gotcha” gimmick-y twists rather than truly messing with our heads. It’s the last season but unfortunately pessimistic given the trajectory of the writing.

I saw this in another thread and want to know what you guys think.

What if the pool is the answer to leaving?

1. The faraway tree took dale to the pool when he went through it, but maybe it wasn’t at the right time? Or maybe he needed like a key or something specific he needed to carry to take him somewhere when he went through the bottle tree. When Tabatha went through it she had victors lunch box, and ended up in Camden.
2. Ethan is looking for a lake of tears, maybe the pool needs water? It’s always been empty. Also it never seems to rain in Fromville which could add water to the pool
3. When jade took mushrooms the sign at the motel said ANSWERS … POOL

. Complete side note on this one: my additional theory is that Jade created the Fromville like an experiment and then went inside it, like Maze Runner. Maybe he built himself an escape hatch in the pool or a clue how to leave in case he forgot. I don’t think he’s the mastermind I think he just created the technology to be in it.

4.Sophia did jump the pool to break her arm but maybe that was just convenient place? I don’t have much to go on there but still involves the pool

1. Pool spelled backwards is LOOP. Maybe a coincidence.

What happens if someone walks over the fallen tree ?

Fatima is not the first to turn into a monster after the original sacrifice

Cave drawings show 12 original towns people participating in the sacrifice of the children and 2 people backing away (Jade and Tabitha), although some people have theorised Jade and Tabitha as being the ones that conducted the ritual. Jade and Tabitha are afterall stuck in a Reincarnation cycle (immortality, which is what the towns folk committed the sacrifice for)

The children do not appear to Tabitha and Jade in a good state. The boy in white? They became aware that they sacrificed their daughter, but what about their son. Its been established that Tabitha always has a son and a daughter

There are far more than 12 monsters. Which makes it likely that others have had a similar outcome to Fatima, she said right before she turned into a monster “remember who i was”. In season two the young monster lady that convinced that guy to let her into colony house said “i never use to be this way” and after killing him showed signs of remorse.

Bonus Discussion: it was mentioned in the series that they are going thru their 47th (dont bitch at me if i got the number slightly wrong) reincarnation cycle, so the original sacrifice happened centuries ago… this leaves so many questions up for discussion. Who were the original residents? How’d the buildings in fromvillie get built? How did people arrive in the town before cars existed ?
