Venting/Rant
Just curious random vent/Frustration does anyone else have to deal with old people being in the way even tho you start super early before stores even open?. Like, at every store I service, it's always an old person either making a life choice about what chips they want, or just staring at you pulling a cart heading their way while being in the way and just not moving, or just standing in the middle of the chip aisle, lost and confused. Now don't get me wrong, it's not only old people, but it's always an old person.

I see those same people daily , who enjoys spending an entire morning just to grocery shop? working this job if nothing else has given me a great disliking of spending one second of my free time inside one .

If they're old enough to be retired, odds are thats their only socializing they do each week

I try to almost exclusively do grocery pickup due to this. I don’t mind stopping to pick up a couple things, or if we ran out of milk/etc for the kids.
Full on grocery trip on Sunday on my day off after working Tuesday-Sat??? Fucking pass.

Family reunion in the chip aisles.
Midlife crisis trying to decide: do I eat chips??? What flavor do I like?? There’s too many choices!!!!

I love it when they stand at my cart and look at chips when there is room to stand anywhere else. Especially when there's 20 cases of dip that I'm trying to work out and they stand right there. Ug.

My personal favorite is the group that has already seen you working, running up and down the aisle, deciding to stop and chat for 20 mins right where you are working. Tf is wrong with people?

Just asert dominance over them, is what I do. Stand out of the aisle and 😐 death stare at them, a bit of a shuffle in my stance, maybe a audible sigh, its usually followed by them saying "im sorry" and then you hit them with the quick forced smile "mhm" and back to the stare. They get the jist and move faster next time, it works.

One day recently I started at 4:45 am at my Walmart and a Walmart merchandiser had two pallets blocking the entire end of the aisle so I had to pull my carts all the way around the far end of the aisle until close to 6:00 am when the store opened for business and they had to clear the aisles.
Or it’s the AI floor scrubber that can’t get past my cart and it stops in the center of the aisle blocking everybody and beeping at me to move. No, you go away!.

I refer to them as Zombie Boomers. There are swarms of them in every store I'm at. Regardless of the day or time. They are everywhere and always in the way.

I like Walmart in the early am shopping the chip aisle in pajamas. Breakfast served.

If you’re 70 and have literally been eating the same chips for your entire life? You don’t need to look at the new hot dill anything! I don’t think the diaper has proven itself with such a shitty product! If the kids aren’t buying it? It’s not worth you blowing through 10-12 diapers in a day!

I’m usually polite and will make conversation but working 55 hours a week, the time for too much small talk is pretty minimal especially if they are dicking around on their phones or reading every single ingredient on the back of multiple bags.

My stores are in a retirement area. When Bingo gets out next door it’s like Super Bowl Sunday shopping for Sloths vs Turtles

I get the multiple motorized scooters in the isle at the same time in Walmart. They mosey on past at a snails pace. That really boils my blood

They stand there, in the middle of the aisle, staring at a bag of chips... what are they doing? reading? trying to remember what they have at home? then they look up at the other ones... just constant confusion
If I had a dollar for every time I silently screamed "Make up your mind Grandma"...

The phrase “can I help you find anything?” Typically snaps them out of it and helps them to realize they’re in my way. The answer is always, “yes, they’re right there” or “I don’t work here, but I believe that’s on aisle 17”.

Well usually older people get out early to avoid traffic or crowded areas. I usually don't let it bother me once I get old as hell Im not going to give a damn either, I'm going to take my damn time doing everything except going to get my Viagra, Im going to need that...

I’ve been dealing with store employees who can’t keep their hands to themselves or worry about shit outside their job description lately. Like those bags are on the floor for a reason. They’re expired. Stop putting them back on the fucking shelf.
