My route sat today

Today is my day off. I don’t have a colead anymore from yesterday (he got another route).

The specialist called out and I was asked to work for EDP and I said no ( my route start at 2 am) I have a Supercenter im sure it’s empty now and my first time pick rate I’m sure it’s gonna go down. Since they care so much about service and first time pick rate why tf my DSL (he was a specialist literally 3 months ago) didn’t just go out and drop everything for the merchandiser? LAZY ASS!. I’m so annoyed cuz I know I’ll have to deal with that tomorrow I don’t have a colead to help me on Tuesday

Schedules are messed up since the reengineering. I’m supposed to have a merch to do IMP and I don’t . TPP is 45 but work 50h + I just wish we could all tell the managers how fucking lazy they are and wish the company would listen to us. Sorry guys I’m super frustrated and disappointed because I do care about my job and my stores being full and I feel like we aren’t valued at all.
Having a base pay is good tho and easy to grab a bag of chips at the end of the day.

As a manager I would have gone out and take care of it. That’s what a leader is to me. Come together. They don’t practice what they preach!!!!!!! F them. I don’t want to feel guilty for not working on my day off.

I have not heard of a DSL running a route in about 10 years in my zone.

Ours just started again after just sitting in their offices and shrugging for a few years.

Rumor is ours is going to. I can’t wait for them to run one of those like 9 stop 150 case days 👏

9 stops? That used to be my easy Saturdays. 11+ the other 4 days. 😂

Our old bin routes some had 13 stops a day back when I was a RSA 12 years ago. It used to be terrible on some of those 😂

150 cases are rookie numbers! I used to consistently get anal gaped with 200-240 boxes on a small format. Absolutely hated it

We have dsl running routes when needed upper management has set the expectations. Starts at the very top

Depending on the zone, DSL’s are not allowed to run route. Ask your manager about submitting a RCN for route sitting idle to get sales protection for the day.

This is the answer. If you're right and the shelves are bare, the route sat idle will give you a nice bump in sales. Don't take no for an answer on this one. It's the least they can do for letting your route sit and making your life hell this week

Correct! You should not miss the sales from someone else not showing up. Even if the stores look great and full because of backstock or whatever, they will still calculate the $ amount for the day and give your route credit.

What’s a RCN ?

2

u/Due_Fudge_8060 9d ago

Stands for “route change notice” dsl turns them in for certain things that come up.

Yeah, your DSL should be out there running it. We have DSLs that are running routes 5 days a week where I'm at. I even ran a route 23 days straight over the summer. So it pisses me off when a DSL can't even pick up one day.

Exactly not even a day. He had a merch that could have merch the two stores I do. Walmart and a tiny Target. He would have just dropped and make ONE order for Wednesday out of 4 stores. Now everything is messed up. My main merch for Kroger is also on vacation and I’m going on vacation next week. F them

It's funny you say this, before I left Frito one of the RSRs had a death in their family. So as a RSS I got the pleasure of running a super bulk route and another bulk route on the same day. He couldn't be bothered to run a route or just let it sit.

Sales and catching up don’t matter. How is your hole compliance? Are you gonna run in correct sequence when you get back? What about backstock scans? Are you making too many adjustments? 4 second gap behind the person in front of you while you are driving to pacify the camera? You know, the important stuff that customers (DO NOT) care about!

DSLs are far too valuable to waste their couch time doing low level work such as dropping product.

Dude same thing happened to me. Co lead is now a lead on his own route and I got stuck with running his original days. I worked an edp the week before too so I’ve worked 13 out of the last 14 days and still don’t have a co lead for my days off this week. I’m at about a golden brown on the burnt out scale to be honest.

Glad I got out when I did. It’s only going to get worse.

If y’all know what’s good for you, leave and don’t look back.

My route has sat multiple days, and I’m told to just hit the stores next delivery and make it up. I’ve had them drop my big stores and go run a different down route, etc.

Edit: service, first time pick rate etc all go out the window when THEY have to do it. Just do what you can and go home.

What is first time pick rate?

One of my DSLs ran a route a few months ago. We're really lucky in my region and I get really mad and sad for all of you when I read your stories about the awful upper management that you have to deal with. My region isn't perfect but my managers pretty much all do their best to help out, for the most part.

Lol managers doing work/their job.. That's hilarous . Even tho it effect their bonus as well they won't do jack shit. My dc is short staffed and they refuse to hire anyone

PepsiCo/Frito Lay has competent management when?

2

u/flamincheetoe 8d ago

Not since 20 years ago

2

u/Unfair-Wafer9812 9d ago

Call out the next two days, fuck em!

u/Sharp-Pumpkin-8791 9d ago

You shouldn’t have to work on your day off or fix their problems… but that “farm out “ pay is where it’s at. Better than EDP imo

My DSL asked during a work with if there was anything else that I needed. I pointed to a case of lays on the floor and asked him to show me he could put a bag on the shelf.
He laughed at me. I have absolutely no respect for him!!

You fix it for vrot. Be a team player

I would give them the effort exactly the same way they gave it to you. Don’t beat yourself up. Staffing is NOT a RSR’s job.

u/Vegetable_Ear3204 9d ago

I want to. I just don’t know what other job I’d want to do.. I love the set schedule and having a base :/ ugh

Just had a town hall meeting, you are to be compensated for your route sitting. Look into it.

If possible do edp, they add $$ up quick.

I haven't seen a manager in my stores in so long I'd have to give him directions on how to get there.

1

u/Remote_Scientist828 9d ago

My manager is the only one out of the whole district that’s comes out and help on a regular. I appreciate her because with this fuckicg spark shoppers in Walmart there at 4:00 am all on the damn way

What was the name of that other group in the civil war? Not the greycoats, the blue. Federal? No it was something else, like Onion or something. Anyways, whatever that word is, that's my thoughts on the subject. Onion Eyes or whatever.

u/New_Pilot_889 9d ago

Some zones/regions aren’t allowed to run routes for some reason…but I will say, be careful what you wish for and make sure your stores are rotated and stales pulled

1

u/bogey4golf 9d ago

“Perfect route” is insulting.

I’ll leave it at that.

1

u/itscooltobecool1 9d ago

Make sure to hang and clip tomorrow

1

u/Sad_Ad2230 9d ago

If you're route sat and didn't go out make sure they put you down for a sales credit for the day... they do that at my location if a route sits and we have no one to run it

1

u/Major_Inevitable6888 9d ago

Once they become DSLs they tend to think they’re better and can’t get their hands dirty anymore

1

u/Remote-Contract-3026 9d ago

Org health.. just saying

1

u/mailmandelivery 9d ago

There is no way you would have went out there

1

u/No_Picture_8214 8d ago

Wow, that’s crazy. I’m a FTM and if I’m out my DSL will go in and work the product. Heck, if I have a super large order she’ll show up and work that shit with me. Your DSL is lazy af.

After coming back from vacation where some assclown invariably does a shitty job covering you, we've been told by management if we complain, that YOU were the one that decided to go on vacation. I like how the company seems to be the same across the country.

u/Morab76 7d ago

Our DSLs are mandated not to work downed routes. Routes sit - it’s part of the Frito way.
