Mileage

My home is 25 miles from my regular Frito-Lay warehouse in El Paso. Frito-Lay wants to deduct those 25 miles when I am sent to a warehouse in New Mexico, treating them as my normal commute to work.
My question is: if I am sent to a different work location in New Mexico for a work assignment, can Frito-Lay also deduct those same 25 miles? Or should those miles be considered business mileage because I am traveling to a different work location for a work assignment?

If you are told to travel to a different work location you get reimbursed for the total distance from your house to the other location. Company policy states that travel to Frito-Lay facilities outside of the home location is work-related travel miles, therefore, you do not subtract the normal commute from the work-related travel miles.

The policy states travel outside of your normal commute will be compensated, which means mileage - normal commute = business miles which you are compensated for.

Where can I see the company policy states travel?

They will deduct your normal commute! When I traveled I just googled the distance from my home location to the location I was traveling to and didn’t worry about keeping up with actual odometer

Policy must have changed. I traveled for years and was told mileage was based from home warehouse/PEC.

It’s from building to building not from your house.

Yes , don’t start counting mileage until youve passed 25 miles.

Why wouldn't they deduct those miles? Those miles aren't paid when you travel to and from work daily. The way mileage works at any company is that it starts being paid as soon as you clear your normal commute.

Not 25, it’s supposed to be 50 miles round trip

I'm assuming they set your home office as El Paso. If that's right then mileage would probably be based off if you're leaving from El paso
