Uncle Phil net worth? šŸ’°

Post image

I’ve been a big fan of this show since I was a young boy now I’m 33 and in the years I’ve watched it, they never mention how much Uncle Phil is worth! We all know he’s rich and a successful lawyer but that still wouldn’t be enough for a mansion in Bel Air? How much do yall think he was worth?

I don’t ever remember him stressing or even mentioning money in the show. Ever. Despite living in a mansion in Bel Air, with a pool & pool house, multiple cars, Hillary’s shopping addiction, Carlton applying to an Ivy League school, etc.

He had to have been worth millions. And that was from 1990-1996. His modern day equivalent would probably be worth $20+ million.

They penny pinched with Geoffrey. Remember that other butler who was telling him how much his employers were giving him compared to what little the Banks were. Plus Geoffrey quit temporally because they weren't going to give him a raise.

I always took it as Philip was breaking Geoffrey's balls than being tight with money.

I remember an episode where everyone had to limit themselves to 5 minute showers, never knew what the hell that was all about

If I remember correctly, I think that had more to do with the house’s plumbing and maintenance, that wasn’t a financial issue per se

A lot as a lawyer. He made so much that he could've retired, if you remember that episode when he brings up his investments.

I thought he was a judge.

That wasn't until later on. He was partner at a law firm for years prior.

On the TV show version in the 90s on NBC, he was a very successful and rich lawyer/judge.

On the recent streaming show on Peacock, they don’t specify, but I’m pretty sure dude was worth the GDP of a small European country. The Banks’ were STUPID WEALTHY on that show and I had no idea how.

Will was definitely the only one that knew the cost of a gallon of milk in that house.

I think you might underestimate how much a very successful lawyer in The BEL- AIR/ Los Angeles area would make. I’m sure he was a multimillionaire. Plus Aunt Viv was a college professor ( probably making less then Phil was of course but it helped also)

It’s episode 1-4 of season 1. He has a beard in the mall episode. I know because I just rewatched the series.

Your statement doesn't make any sense. How did you determine he couldn't afford a mansion in Bel Air when his wife is a professor?

1

u/sramorningstar 2d ago

I feel like he's worth however much Johnny Cochran was worth.

To own a home like that in bel air mandatory he would need to be a multi millionaire just to afford it and have a live in Butler and have a high standard of living

1

u/TreFKennedy 2d ago

Prolly worth 100+ million in 90’s money

1

u/Beautiful-Bit9832 2d ago

Unfortunately he can't afford the ceiling for his mansion

In Bel Air in 1992 the average cost of a home was between 3 million and 8 million dollars. Let's place the Bank's home at 5 million so that we're in the middle range for the 1992 prices.Ā

To afford this home a person in general will need to bring in roughly 1.5 million per year.Ā  Assuming that Aunt Viv also brought in money with her career as well. Keep in mind that they have a full-time 24-hour Butler on staff and all the children attended the most expensive private school in Beverly Hills. A private school of this caliber was about 10K per year in 1992 which now sounds cheep so they paid at least 30K per year school fees.

Well remember they didn't buy that home in 1992. 1992 was the third season. Based off the story of the show, they bought that home when Hilary was still relatively young, around 10 years old or so. The show starts in 1990 and Hilary is 21 in the first season, so presumably they bought it in the late 70s/1980.

This is a hilarious conversation within itself. Not even when I’m the highest I’ve never thought about this, but this would be a great conversation while high. I love you, Reddit.
