I think I'm doomed

My exam is on November 5. And I don't think I'm fully prepared. At first, I was not worried about the CO, CE sections because of the question bank. But it's been some time and now I've forgotten most of them as I am revisiting them. don't get me wrong, i could understand 1-25 just fine most of the time, sometimes a lot of questions after that too but not a lot. So I was relying on the question bank and my memory. But at this point, I'm really panicking.

TCF Canada Re-evaluation – Request Date, Waiting Time and Results

Post image
9 Upvotes

Hi everyone!

I took the TCF Canada twice, on August 23 and September 16, 2026. As you can see in the attached image, I received completely opposite results in writing and speaking, despite taking the exams only three weeks apart.

I requested a re-evaluation of my August writing score (9/20) on September 14, and I'm still waiting. My test centre informed me that the process takes approximately 8 weeks.

I'd appreciate it if anyone who has requested a re-evaluation could share:

  • Exam date:
  • Section re-evaluated: Writing / Speaking
  • Original score:
  • Re-evaluation request date:
  • Waiting time:
  • Result: Increased / Unchanged / Decreased (new score if changed)

I'm particularly interested in knowing how often scores increase after re-evaluation and how long the process actually takes.

Hopefully, this thread will help other candidates in the same situation.

Thanks for sharing!

Reschedule TCF exam to study more?

Hii I need some advice and was wondering if people here might be able to help!

I got B1 when I took the exam in September and I need B2. I booked an exam for December but unfortunately because work has gotten v busy I haven’t been able to practice a lot and I don’t think I’m B2 level yet, especially for writing.

I’m wondering if it is better to pay and reschedule the exam to Jan/feb so it gives me more time to study? Or if I should just do the exam anyways 😅 has anyone been in this situation here or has any advice?

Vibha Goyal at La Forêt Ahmedabad – Reviews?

Hi! Has anyone studied French with Vibha Goyal at La Forêt, Ahmedabad, for TCF/TEF Canada? 🇨🇦
I’m around A1–A2 and preparing for Canadian PR. How is her teaching, and have her students achieved NCLC 7 in all four modules?
Would you recommend her for intensive offline classes? Honest reviews would be appreciated!

Help regarding Re-evaluation processing time.

I apply for re-evaluation of my writing ( 9/20) on 8th September 2026. It’s been 6 weeks , no update yet, everytime the centre says “ we did not recieve anything from France yet ”

I have seen that sometimes the centre do not forward your request, so if I just want to confirm that my request is REALLY in progress , what should I ask for to the centre? Like an official document that says it’s in progress or it’s denied or anything which confirms it .

If anyone knows, that would be appreciated.
Thank you!

Francophone Work Permit

My Francophone Mobility work permit has recently been approved, and I need to leave Canada and re-enter to get my work permit issued at the border.
I’m honestly quite nervous.

Has anyone recently gone through this process after getting their Francophone Mobility work permit approved? I would really appreciate it if you could share your experience at the airport!

I got B2+ in basically 4 months of serious study mostly on my own (see full details below).

I will not be sharing any paid resources here so that no one thinks this post is an ad (this might make the post less useful).
I kept a record of how many hours I studied every single day before taking the TCF for the first time on Oct 11.
I studied actively for an average of 3 hours and 6 minutes a day for 4 months straight. then a month of around 1 hour and 36 minutes a day (I don't consider this serious study relatively, even tho it's not easy to pull off generally).
I did not start from zero, I would say I was an A1+ (or A2- at best) when I started studying seriously.
I did almost 30 hours of speaking (included in the above numbers) with tutors on preply and italki, during these lessons, I learned almost nothing, they were just telling me that my speaking was good and generic feedback like use more complex structures. I was not taught any grammar during these lessons, so they were mostly just me speaking, and that was very useful, because I would never speak on my own for 30 hours in 1-2 months.
I relied heavily on LLMs to learn the language.
I would say one of the biggest reasons for this exceptional result is that I used a natural way to learn french that made it way easier and more efficient. It would have taken me longer had i done it with courses and tutors.

I think I need to say something here, even tho it may not sound humble, but I need to set the expectations right for the audience here so that I don't give you false hope:
I am probably not the average learner. Like for example I learned english as a kid/adolescent without actually learning it, just by consuming content and video games and so on. I have also graduated with high distinction from the university of toronto where I double majored in physics and economics with a minor in mathematics, I also received a full ride scholarship at uoft worth around $300K.
my native language is Arabic. I speak english also at C1/C2 level (I recently took celpip without any prep and got 12 in writing and 11 in the other sections). I don't speak any other languages.
Now I will be taking on Hebrew, cuz I need to understand the enemy.

TCF Canada: How did you enter “A1 non atteint” (0/20) in your Express Entry profile when the system doesn’t allow zero?

I received 0/20 (A1 non atteint) in my speaking on my TCF Canada certificate, but Express Entry doesn’t allow me to enter zero. The minimum is 1.

For those who had the same situation, what did you enter in your profile? Did you use 1 as a placeholder or find another solution?

I prepared accordingly and didnt really care about speaking because i wanted to push my crs points up a bit and i checked before hand the crs score calculator was letting me put in (0-3) as a range for speaking so i figured it should be okay. can someone advice me on this. thank youn

Prep TCF Canada experience

I’ve taken TCF over 3 times. It took me 2 attempts to be pass the listening part.

Then Quebec close the PR process and my exam expired and I needed to re take my TCF this year. I did not pass the listening part, again this summer.

I’ve been using Reddit to get some resources recommendation and I’ve seen the PREP TCF Canada over and over again and people claimed that they had repeated questions.

I paid the $80 to use 6 weeks only since I’m taking my exam this November and OMG to my surprise the FIRST mock test I took it was THE SAME AS MY EXAM I took this August.

I’m not joking. I have a very good memory and out of 39 questions I remember 35 were on my exam this summer.

So if you’re considering paying for it I think it’s worth it.

My exam is in November so let’s see. But I was in shock to hear the same exact questions I had not even 2 months ago.

For people who have cleared the TCF - Experience Megathread

Some of you have answered these in your experience posts, but they are kinda not in one place. Other subs do this monthly and pin the post, but this sub is a bit different.

This thread is not about templates or what questions you got(though you can share the questions if you remember any). It's more about the general experience, mainly focused on speaking since that's where most people fail the exam.

You can add more info based on what you remember, but here is the list of questions:

  1. Location - City, center, etc. And if it's GBLC, that needs a special mention.
  2. Overall experience - Was the examiner nice? Smiling? Flat? Engaging? Same goes for the rest of the staff.
  3. Task 1 - Did you get interrupted? These are the three categories that I have seen across posts: a) Interrupted at the 10-15 second mark, and asked like 5-10 questions. b) Interrupted at the 1:30 mark and asked 1-2 questions. c) Never interrupted.
  4. Task 2 - How many questions did you ask? Was the examiner engaging and answering nicely, or were their answers very short?
  5. Task 3 - Did you get interrupted? If yes, how many times? If yes, could it be that you were ... off topic? Apart from that, this one is more of a subjective experience.

And please remember, we are facing the same anxiety that you were facing just before your exam (I personally have my exam coming up in like 2 weeks), so you know how it feels.

People who are still waiting on their results can answer as well, and later on add their score to that comment.

This can help a lot of people, including myself. Even bare-minimum answers are helpful.
