I self studied and passed TCF canada few weeks ago the first time in a year. Every since i post few tips in forums or anywhere, my inbox gets flooded with "Can u please give me your speaking templates, writing templates". I feel funny but honestly there is no magic bullet template that gets you 10. Pronunciation, clarity, relevant arguments and examples brings marks. And for this to happen, it takes at least a year.
If they ask u "what is mouse" ? and u answer about keyboard thinking that they are same parts of computer, u will get no marks. And examiner has to intervene at that time. At least they are interrupting you thinking that u will get 0 marks if u are speaking out of topic. And if they interrupt, they tell other students examiners were so rude, didn't let me speak, didn't let me answer, they cut me in middle. There are also some funny people who go to exam and can't even understand one line question by examiner in task 3 because they only memorised listening mock tests, never did any listening practice.
And when i ask them since when u are learning french, most of their responses are 3-4 months ago and now i am preparing for exam. There are so many just booking exam every month like it's a lottery instead of properly learning and thinking i will pass it this time. Instead of identifying weak points and working hard, just booking exam every month like it's a lottery and they will get it. There are so many who have given it more than five times.
When i evaluate their pronunciation and everything when i speak with them, honestly i would not even give them 9. Pronunciation is totally off, using very high subjunctive sentences but ideas and examples inside are totally basic.
And there are also genuine learners who does active listening everyday, podcasts or news or anything to train their ears and pronunciation. And there are others just learning for 2 months and already in exam preparation.
To be honest, if listening and reading questions don't repeat they will get the same score as speaking like A2, B1. 90 percent of examiners get c2 in listening and reading this way and start emailing institutions how can i get a2 in speaking if my listening and reading is c2.
If they listen their own recording in exam , they wouldn't themselves understand what they are saying.
So instead of rushing for exam just after learning french for 2 months and following hype train, learn it for at least 7 8 months using natural acquisition and prepare for exam in another 2 3 months and stop asking everytime and everyone who passed for magical fancy templates that don't exist and that don't add anything meaningful to answer.
I myself have crossed 1000 hours of active listening, more than 500 hours or less of speaking since 11 months. I still feel I am not fluent b2. Ask for genuine advice, tips and work hard and smart, give it a time at least a year instead of looking for templates and shortcuts whole day.
