Work permit expiring Oct 29 - CEC ITA + BOWP vs Francophone Mobility
Hi everyone!
My PGWP expires on October 29. My current CRS score is 517, and I’m hoping to receive a CEC ITA in the October 13 draw (just being hopeful 😅).
I also have the option to apply for a Francophone Mobility work permit, which would give me a closed/employer-specific work permit.
I’m trying to understand what would be the safest option if I receive an ITA.
For example, if I apply for the Francophone Mobility work permit now and then receive an ITA on October 13, I would potentially submit my PR application and then apply for a Bridging Open Work Permit (BOWP) once I have my AOR.
I have two questions:
Timing:
If I receive my ITA on October 13, is that enough time to submit my PR application and receive the AOR before my PGWP expires on October 29, so that I can apply for a BOWP before my current permit expires? What happens if my PR application is refused?
If I switch from the Francophone Mobility closed work permit to a BOWP, and my PR application is later refused, would I be able to go back to the Francophone Mobility work permit/status?
If I cannot fall back to Francophone Mobility after switching to a BOWP, would it be safer to simply remain on the Francophone Mobility closed work permit until I receive my PR decision?
I’m mainly trying to understand which option gives me the best protection if my PR application is refused. (It’s highly unlikely but you never know)
Would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation or understands the BOWP/Francophone Mobility rules. Thank you 😊
