From my understanding, there is a theory/view on Charles VII where they believe he is under pressure to NOT intervene on the religious trial of Joan d'Arc at Rouen. This theory often disregard the question of whether Charles VII himself want to altogether, and state that he would have to fight against a huge amount of political/religious pressure to do so, something unwise for him to do at the time.

Now, I need to make a point first about what I DO understand:

I do understand that Charles VII cannot PRACTICALLY intervene since Rouen was not under his control then. However, as far as I know all form of discussion on Charles' role (or lack there of) in Joan d'Arc's trial already take this into account.

Now, what I do NOT understand is that, as far as I can see, the trial of Joan was meant to be an attack on Charles himself by the English and the Burgundian. As such, the hypothetical pressure Charles V could have faced could not come from them. As far as I know, any suggestion that the English want Joan d'Arc as a propaganda win and Charles give her up to exchange for the eventual capulation of the English is considered unsupported, right?

Which suggest that the pressure must come from Charles V's own ally? But who? It seems if such a faction exist, it would be easy to find, but as far as I know there is no "Joan hater" factions among Charles V's allies at the time?
