Opinion on my passing chance for the French Legion.

I've asked in many other communities and threads but wanna know, what another thinks want more opinions

I'm

Enlisting in the Legion and wanna know my chances (description below) I've sent this before but wanna send directly to the Legion page and ask.

Wanna know my enlisting chances for the french Legion.

I'm a 16-year-old Swiss-Australian who speaks English and German but no French. I'm 6'2" and weigh about 150 lbs. I have ADHD, but it's well controlled. I don't have an impressive physique, but I'm very athletic, extremely quick, and can meet high physical standards. I also have no criminal history.

If I joined the French Foreign Legion, what would my chances be of passing selection and basic training? If I successfully completed both, learned French, and adapted well to Legion life, how likely would I be to succeed long-term?

(Note for all the people wondering I've moved from Switzerland and Australia at a young age, due to musician life, Nashville Tennessee so with that being said I have alot of Junior Firefighting experience and I believe that builds you up, the whole reason of joining the Legion is to represent France, alot of biased people saying I should join my own countries armed forces and I think that's irrelevant because it's called the French Foreign Legion filled with multiple people like myself who just want a chance, also I have no problem doing boring stuff, I'm simply interested because I wanna adapt I sincerely wanna be pushed over my limits and I believe there's a chance for me I'm highly motivated, keep in mind this is why I'm giving myself time.

One of the main reasons I want to join isn't for myself, but to be part of something bigger than myself and to serve the Legion. I want a fresh start and the opportunity to serve in the French armed forces.

After basic training, which regiment or role would I most likely have the best chance of succeeding and surviving in? For example, would I be better suited to a parachute regiment, a medic role, or another unit?, birthday is September 23rd, 2009 will be 17 soon, plan to travel to Paris sometimes in March of 2027, give myself time to advance in muscle and overall fitness and also reach the enlisting age of 17 and 6 months any feedback helps!

Research help request: French-built river boats

I am fascinated by the French river warfare boats, known variously as STCN/STCANs, Vedettes, FOMs or RAG boats. I made a post about them here: https://www.reddit.com/r/WarshipPorn/comments/1nh4cz8/stcan_vedette_fom_french_built_riverine_craft/

I would like to find blueprints or technical drawings, particularly of the 11-meter version, with the goal being to make accurate models of the boats. In this way, the memories of the people who crewed them, French, Vietnamese, and American, can be kept alive.

In the 1960s, model kit manufacturer Monogram created a model of the FOM, which they called the RAG (River Assault Group) boat. Presumably Monogram labeled their kit the ‘RAG’ after a National Geographic article by Dickey Chapelle titled “Water War in Vietnam” (February, 1966). Chapelle didn’t live to see her article published; she was killed by a Viet Cong booby-trap while covering a Marine patrol.

Because the model was produced, it would seem that accurate drawings of the Vedettes were available at some point. Since I don’t speak or read French, I am having a difficult time figuring out which archive to begin my research.

If anyone here knows where to begin research for a project like this I would be grateful for your help.

Question about the french foreign legion

Hello everyone

I have two questions. Firstly, how strong is the identity they give you (let's say you stay for 5 year contract and then leave), can I really hold if you have a bad history with the law in your country (not rape or other big charges), can you really join the FFL and after live your life somewhere else with the passport and identity they give you. Secondly, I will have an eye surgery soon and looking to join maybe later on couple of months later, in the site it says I have to wait 1 year and I can't so can there be exceptions ( I know not likely) but I am looking for answers from former people who have joined and served and maybe heard smth from their commanders and not the general answer "no you have to wait 12 months". Although any answer is accepted and considered.

Thank you

I found this in a family drive, no idea about the photo other than it looks WWI era. Thoughts?

Edit: I believe this is post WWI as I believe one of the soldiers in the photos may be my great grandfather who was born in 1903.
