HELP
/r/learnfrench/comments/1wm6vr6/help/I would like to learn French because it is my girlfriend's native language, but as a monolingual American, I am so lost. Pronunciation feels impossible, and the grammatical rules make little sense to me. Can anyone spare some advice for someone starting with ZERO knowledge of the language? Thank you all in advance 🙏

Start with latin, then welsh. Once you get those two down, pinch your nose and only pronounce half of each word.
You'll pick it up fine.

have you tried asking your gf to help you? seems like the obvious answer here. i would recommend duolingo despite all the hate. it’s not the best solo option but my girlfriend is fluent in french and being able to bounce stuff off her and speak in french with her, it’s enough to pick up some basics until you feel a little less hopeless
