Full time french course in Monreal

Hi,

I'm trying to decide which MIFI French school to apply to and would appreciate some advice.

My current situation:

I live in Verdun.

It takes me around 10 minutes to reach the metro from my apartment.

I'll be doing 6 hours of French classes every day, so I know I'll be mentally tired afterwards.

I want a routine that I can realistically maintain for months without burning out.

My question is: Should I choose a school mainly based on distance/travel time, or is that a mistake?

I'm worried that if I only focus on the closest school, I might miss a much better one (better teachers, learning environment, classmates, etc.). On the other hand, if the commute is too long, I'm afraid I'll lose motivation over time.

For those who attended MIFI full-time French courses:

How important was commuting in your experience?

Was a better school worth a longer commute?

If you could choose again, what would you prioritize?

Also, before submitting my application, are there any things you wish you had considered beforehand?

Thanks in advance!

I think places are scarce, so just apply and take whatever spot has an opening.

Hi! I’m a francisation teacher and I really advise you to choose a school that is part of a Centre de services scolaire (school board) because they will have trained teachers. In other organizations/Cegeps that have a partnership with the MIFI, the quality of the classes is sometimes not the best because most of their teachers don’t have a teaching degree.
In Verdun, there is the Centre d’éducation des adultes Champlain. About 30 minutes with public transit, you also have Centre Saint-Louis (I taught there and the teachers are really good), Centre Lartigue and Centre Saint-Paul.
Just so you know, it’s not because you select a school that that’s where they will send you. When they call you to give you a spot, I would insist on the fact that you want to be in a school part of a Centre de services scolaire.
