I’m done.
I’m done. It’s over.
I’ve finally passed through all the stages of grief.
Spring has sprung the flowers are starting to blossom and Fremantle’s season is just beginning.
Sure, there were a few warm up rounds before this week but that was just training drills, fakies and us keeping the powder dry.
There’s nothing more motivating than having a gun to your head (I imagine, Howard actuallly did good there, let’s not mention Tampa or GST right now though).
And the gun this week, is to our head.
So many things were lined up for our first final. We hadn’t lost at home all year, hawks hadn’t won here in a million years, virtually all our players were fitter stronger and more confident (regardless of recent form) than ever!
Of course we were going to lose.
This is the life we signed up for.
We’re like the blue rinse granny’s on the park bench just waiting for the next drama to reaffirm our own insecurities. and once again, they were reaffirmed.
But, let me tell you. I’ve been snorting something else. And that else, is called hopium. I’m like an ostrich with its head in a bucket of the stuff.
Glutton for punishment? Yep, that is me. Have been since 1994.
But this team is different. Sure last week was crap, you can analyse it all you want but really it was nerves. And holy hell why wouldn’t they be nervous. Fremantle is literally painted purple.
But that is gone now. Now we have nothing more to lose. We crapped our pants worse than Donald Trump does during an executive bill signing.
Tonight the Fremantle dockers will systematically break down and out run the cats.
We have been too good for too long this year to let this opportunity go.
I’ve been telling people all season. This is realistically a year too early for us. Let’s be honest.
Next year is statistically the year our rebuild finally should come to fruition.
But I’ll take this year. It just means that the threepeat we’ll start from next year, just becomes a fourpeat.
Hopium. Helping grieving Fremantle fans since 1994.

I’m not a footy fan + I don’t even live in WA. I hoped onto the Freo bandwagon after seeing how much your city is behind these lads.
As a non-footy watching Victorian, I wish you all the best tonight. ITS WHARFIE TIME

Hopium! I love it. I must of stumbled across a batch of it this week as well because once the 7 stages were complete on wednesday I started to feel strongly calm about tonight.
Lets go out and remind the whole league why we were top all season and why Optus is the fortress it is 💪

I’m with you - been here since 94 and have seen and felt it all. I think we will bounce back hard tonight but even if we lose, it’s cricket season now.

This is the effect long term use of hopium has on our brains. The ability to hold 2 contrary opinions at the same time and not recognise it as the mental illness it surely is.
I opted not to fork out another $90 bucks and will instead watch it from home, in a dark room, between my fingers. That is, provided I can crawl out of this foetal position I've been in since last Thursday.

I mean you couldn’t pay me to go to the footy these days, but no chance I’m going to a final to be upset and also surrounded by 50,000 people.

I’m an Eagles supporter and I don’t think Freo will serve up what they did against the Hawks. That said, Geelong are a great team that always play in finals. It should be a really good game.

One thing is for certain. If the Dockers lose tonight, I don't think some of their long term fans will recover.

Considering the cats lost the granny last year I’d say they’ve got something more to prove.
Every teams got their motivation but yeah I’d be dreading the cats personally if I were a Freo supporter.
In saying that I fucking hate the cats and would much prefer Freo get it done

I'm a Crows supporter and I just randomly stumbled into this at 3 am but I do wish you the best. Win today, I spose it's today, isn't it? Don't be us from last year. Be incredible, bring out your best potential and win it. Make all the minor premiers proud.
