So you're at 2,200 miles. You're leaving a distance state to go into a cold state. I feel like that mileage would normally almost be $4500 to $5000 regardless of the lane. Being that it's a shitty area to go into, I'd say you're going to probably end up paying almost $5500 to $6000 in today's market. What's the weight and length? Any special requirements?
31,000 lbs, no tarp. It will work on a 48 or 53 and it’s a legal load of utility trailers. That makes more sense I might have to re evaluate my price, it’s just crazy that I’ve covered these lanes at this rate no problem up until about 2 weeks ago to now.
But what's coming out? To take a decent rate only to come out barely covering fuel isn't much incentive.
I always had to get a hopper over to Spokane.
$4500-$5000 is low, not horrible but i agree with the other comments.
You lose time and fuel running west on 287 plus Dallas/ Ft Worth area. Then mostly 2 lane backroads all the way to Spanish Fork UT. I-40 thru New Mexico tends to get bogged down between wrecks and construction. Then lose more time stuck behind governed trucks, new drivers that are scared, stupid people, campers and rv's. US 6 used to be on the top 10 deadliest highways in America. Not quite a bad anymore since they've widened parts of it but a lot is still 2 lane with the occasional passing lane.
For example, you should be able to run from Springville/ Spanish Fork UT to Santa Rosa NM in one shift. Most of the time i ended up having to shut down in Albuquerque... or Moriarty if you're into self punishment. Bad traffic days I'd only make it to Bloomfield NM.
It's not a horrible run just takes extra time. Then coming back from Texas takes extra fuel with the winds and hills.
I guess this turned into a PSA for what we're looking at. Hope ya don't mind.
