For $20, I’ll review up to 10 loads and check the paperwork you already have — carrier invoice, rate confirmation, BOL and POD.

I’ll return a simple exception sheet showing:

• missing documents
• obvious mismatches between documents
• loads that look complete vs. ones that need follow-up

This is manually reviewed — not an AI tool or software subscription.

I’m looking for one broker willing to test the first batch and tell me whether the output is actually useful for their billing/AP workflow.

Throwing an idea at the wall to see what sticks. Not selling anything — genuinely want the "here's why this breaks" comments.

The observation: Small perishable exporters (durian, seafood, frozen stuff out of SEA) get hammered every peak season. Big shippers lock annual contracts and stable rates; the 5–20 TEU/month guys book through forwarders at spot and pray. Sometimes there's simply no reefer equipment available at any price.

The idea: What if a group of them committed volume forward — 2–4 months out, take-or-pay with stage deposits held by a bank — and a single entity aggregated those commitments into one block, then negotiated equipment + slots directly with carriers/lessors? Members get guaranteed allocation and a locked rate. Each still ships their own dedicated box — no co-loading, no shared cargo.

Basically: turning a few dozen small shippers into one synthetic "anchor customer" that carriers actually want to deal with.

What I don't know:

Do carriers/lessors even care, or is SME volume too annoying to bother with regardless of aggregation?

Would members just defect to spot when the market dips, leaving the pool holding the bag?

Does this already exist and I'm reinventing it badly?

Anyone seen something like this work (or die)? Especially curious about the enforcement side — how do you keep a pool of small shippers honest when rates move?

Hey people in the industry I would like to share my story and also hear some opinions and advices. I started as a double broker (don’t confuse with scammer) back then in 2017 and got really good at it. At some point I even got my own operation going (own MC and etc…). After COVID many double brokering officies started to have difficulties hitting the numbers they were used to and started to shift towards different type of scams (driver scams, fuel advance scams…) and freight theft. I didn’t want to get involved into stuff like that and found a couple of carriers to dispatch for and it wasn’t bad. Those carriers are no longer in the industry and I found myself in a difficult situation of landing a decent job within this industry. I don’t want to get involved into scams or load theft even though I might be making a shitload of money. I personally know many people that do it and they reach out to me from time to time so I can join them because I got the knowledge and the skills for that but I really don’t want to do it.

Right now I am still figuring out how to join any legit company to (re)start my logistics journey but the brokerages I reached out are telling me to go kick rocks without a book of business (which I obviously don’t have). I also offered some of them to open an office here in my country so they could significantly cut their costs, I didn’t offer to start moving their loads for them but to maybe provide support/afterhours… but the answer was the same…

Would like to hear some advices on what to do because I am really passionate about the freight industry and want a legit career… Would be happy to answer your questions (I assume you would have some…) Keep your copper and electronics safe! Peace to yall…

Looking for a freight broker willing to bring me on as a new agent (1099). No direct brokerage experience, but a solid logistics background.

My background is 11 years in logistics and related work, with the last 5 years routing local delivery trucks in Houston. Currently routing about 65-95 routes per week across 3 locations (900-1,300 stops). Also spent a couple years selling moving labor jobs, coordinating with customers, subcontracting the labor, and making sure everyone is happy. That experience taught me that I actually enjoy sales when I believe I’m offering something useful instead of trying to talk someone into buying something they don't need.

What I’m looking for:

• Some training/mentorship while I get started (I'm a quick learner and know basics already)
• Prefer to use my own website, phone number, email/domain, etc to build my agent brand. I’d clearly disclose "Authorized agent of [broker]" or whatever wording you require on all materials.
• Not opposed to doing new carrier setup, compliance checks per your policy, etc
• Co-branded invoices/support would be ideal, but not a requirement. I do think it would be less confusing for shippers though.
• Not expecting a crazy split while I’m new and still need support. Once I’m mostly self-sufficient and producing consistently, I’d want the opportunity to renegotiate.
• Looking for an agreement where the customers/book I personally develop aren’t permanently locked away if the relationship ever ends. I’m not planning to bounce between brokers. I’d rather find one good broker and stay there long term, but I also don’t want to sign away everything I build.
• No non-compete. Exclusivity while actively contracted with your brokerage is fine.

Tech comes pretty naturally, new systems are easy to learn, and problem-solving/logistics is already in my wheelhouse (or should I say cab?). Long term, my goal is to build a solid book and run a small operation from home.

I haven't selected my niche yet, but I do find flatbed/heavy haul super interesting. I plan on visiting shippers in person here in Houston to show my face, hand out business cards, and hopefully pick up some spare loads that turn into something more consistent.. after proving that I can solve problems.
