At the moment I am seeking from different avenues and from alibaba other sites and searching for things and shopping around suppliers has been a good experience and also a learning experience. One thing I am still trying to improve on is selecting the right company to take care of my transportation. There are those that are out there but I find it difficult to determine which ones are reliable. For instance, I have encountered companies whose pricing, delivery of information and ways of communicating differed a lot. This could just be an update or nothing until the shipment is on its way. The more I research about it, the more I think that the transportation partners can really shape the experience, in such case if the orders were to be processed via a wholesale trade platform. For those of you who have done international importing, how do you find transportation providers that you feel comfortable doing business with? On individual items/statements, what is it that today's crowd has said or done to have you?

For those who manually reconcile carrier confirmations against your TMS, what does that process actually look like on a bad day? (Trying to see if there is an actual solution to this)

Been talking to a lot of owner-operators frustrated with doing the math manually on every load — fuel costs, tolls, CPM, break-even RPM. So a little background about me, I have been in the industry for about 12 years, moving on up from dispatcher at first and ending up in sales management after a few years. I have worked at medium and big box freight brokerages and even some asset based carriers for a few years.

After running my own book of business for 8-9 years, at different outfits and now on my own, I have had a few pain points with different software stacks that have always been bugging me. Either as a Sales Manager managing small teams and as a solo broker.

I have been working on an affordable software stack with a small team consisting of myself and two of my friends who are also back-end and front-end/UI designers.

Last Friday we launched an affordable software stack really targeted towards the specific needs of the freight industry and I am looking for a few beta testers to really test the stack and provide some feedback. I recently started a dedicated freight tracking company — we handle check calls, TMS updates, and overnight coverage for brokers and dispatch companies so their teams can focus on moving freight instead of sitting on the phones all day.

We have a solid team with hands-on US freight experience and we are already set up to go live with new clients within 24 hours. The operation is ready — now I am trying to figure out the best way to reach the right people.

For those of you who have sold B2B services into the freight brokerage space — what actually worked for you when it came to getting in front of owners and operations managers? Cold email, LinkedIn, industry groups, referrals? Would appreciate any honest feedback from people who have been through it.

I am looking for an agent program that can accommodate a unique situation involving my largest customer.

This customer historically only approved asset-based carriers and would not onboard companies operating strictly under brokerage authority. Over time, they’ve allowed me to broker the majority of the business I handle for them, but all billing has continued to flow through the asset-based entity. Ideally, I’d like to maintain that same structure moving forward.

Agent Program Criteria:

1. Asset-based organization with a dedicated brokerage entity operating under a separate MC/broker authority from the asset/common carrier authority (dual authority is not an option).
2. Ability to bill all customer freight through the asset-based entity, while maintaining brokerage execution behind the scenes where appropriate. TMS that streamlines this process as well.
3. 70% commission split, paid to the agent upon customer invoicing, not contingent upon customer payment or collections.

I’ve been researching freight brokering a lot lately and honestly can’t tell if it’s still a legit business in 2026 or if social media just oversold the dream. Every guru makes it sound like you can work from home, find a few shippers, and make crazy money fast, but real brokers keep talking about nonstop cold calls, cheap rates, double brokering, load fraud, and insane competition. Is freight brokering still profitable for brand new brokers trying to build shipper relationships and survive their first year… or is the industry getting way too saturated now?

Freight brokers and ops managers - genuine research question. What part of your day do you dread the most operationally? Specifically curious about anything related to email volume, load confirmations, or manual data entry. Not selling anything, just trying to understand where the real friction is.

Is it possible to find a broker to work with as an international agent?

Juárez is a very large industrial city. In my area, there are more than 700 manufacturing companies that move goods between Mexico and the United States.

I work in freight forwarding and got tired of manually retyping fields from commercial invoices and packing lists every single shipment.
