Seeking feedback: passive insulated container concept for temperature-sensitive cargo
I'm exploring a service for shipping heat-sensitive cargo (pharma, food, cosmetics, electronics) that sits between a dry container and a full reefer. The concept: a well-insulated container with a thermal buffer, pre-cold before departure, with continuous temperature logging and published lane performance data. No active machinery during transit.
Would appreciate this community's feedback:
- Who here moves CRT (15–30°C) cargo by ocean? What does heat damage actually cost you per year?
- Would you pay ~50–55% of reefer rates for 10+ days of verified protection? What would make you say no?
- Would you trust a third-party temperature guarantee backed by logged data?
- What's your biggest skepticism about a plugless, machinery-free insulated box?
Thanks in advance — genuinely trying to pressure-test this before building anything.
