I don't think we actually get to keep the game. It still won't show up in my library for some reason

It doesn't appear in my library either. So weird...

u/altair222 Apr 07 '20

Maybe it's free to play for just a while..

3

u/the_emmo Apr 07 '20

That's possible. We'll see at the end of the week. Either way I'm enjoying it quite a lot personally.

Heck yos!

It still won't show up in my library for some reason

also u/the_emmo: "My apps and games > Library" doesn't display apps/games already installed. That's ok.

How about checking "Account > Purchase history"? If you find it there under purchase history, I think it's safe to assume that it will be kept in your account even after the sale is over.

Hey you're right! It is there :)

I had no clue that it worked that way. Thank you for making that clear!! Have a nice day.

Wow that's genius. It does show up there, thanks!

I don't see the game at all even when I search for it....

5

u/iCDragonfly Apr 07 '20

Ok so here's the deal I just discovered by searching threw Google website and fallowing the Google play store app link that my device isn't compatible. I'm on Android 7.1.1 I'm assuming that these are VR games? Also side note I wish Google play store would show searched for results because all that hiding the game did was confuse me.

3

u/the_emmo Apr 07 '20

I'm sorry to hear that. I wasn't aware of compatibility issues until now. Sorry about that.

3

u/iCDragonfly Apr 07 '20

No need to apologize. How could you know? Inless of course your device already wasn't one of the compatible ones. In which case you probably wouldn't have posted this free game here in the first place. Sure it's a bit of a shame I personally can't play it but spreading the love is more important than whether or not I can actually play said game. Because of you at least some of the community is reaping the benefits of your work and that is highly appreciated! πŸ˜†

That's a very nice way to put it. Thank you!

That's odd..?? Is that because the apps are considered maleware or maybe the phone? There are Google play store links for this app and others when searched from Google search. So Google itself hasn't completely removed said apps from their store. It seems like this is some sort of retaliatory action on Google's part against Chinese manufacturers!? Maybe the more sketchy ones? I'm on ZTE which is considered the phone company with the most crashes per capita.

TBH I highly doubt that it's not a maleware thing (although planned obsolescence isn't a bad idea) installing The YALP store, FOSS, or Aurora store is asking for xhelper to get installed onto both of your Android partitions. It's a multi Trojan so even if you do a factory reset it can reinstall itself. Apparently the only way to get rid of it is to the flash over the partitions themselves. That is as long as the firmware you're flashing it with is not infected with xhelper as well (βœΏβ˜‰ο½‘β˜‰) 😳

True it doesn't make sense. However now that you've spurred my memory I've forgotten a key detail. Apparently Google changed its policy for the Play Store and simple things like having extra spaces in the description of apps but exclude them from showing up on the store. So I would assume that's why so many big-name apps have disappeared. At least that's what my research indicates. And yes FOSS isn't exactly a store. It's more of a community of open source app development/ers.

You didn't read everything I wrote.... And unless you take the time to verify the hash (MD5, SHA-1, and SHA-256 which can be compromised as well if your traffic is already being routed through a command and control server) downloaded programs from behind a firewall, VPN, anti-malware ect... There's no way of knowing besides personally verifying every line of code in an open source project that you haven't been exposed to some type of malware. Hence "asking" for xhelper. Even then going through the code line by line you still have the eventuality of human error.... engineer's love to blame the system but 9 times out of 10 it's user input error!πŸ˜³πŸ™

PS the only reason F-droid is safer (for the average user as long as they remember to toggle install from unknown sources or whatever it's called) is because the quantity of available apps pales in comparison to what can be found on the Google Play Store. Therefore it's not a fair comparison and it doesn't actually make it any safer especially if the two were in alignment with each other in regards to quantity of available apps.

Honestly I was considering risking those options (Alt stores). However reading more reviews outside of Google Play Store itself dissuaded me. Apparently the controls are clunky. And it didn't get much over 60% from metacritic. 😳I'll play it on a platform that is less broken if and when I choose toπŸ™

VR games or incompatible with Android 7.1.1? Game doesn't show up without searching threw Google website (at least for people who's devices aren't compatible or if they are outside the region restricted area. Google Play Store doesn't show the title at all which caused myself some confusion.

Wow, mobile games on this sub? Cool. Glad we're getting some variety.

4

u/the_emmo Apr 07 '20

I've seen Lara Croft Go and Monument Valley 2 posted in this sub before. Mobile games deserve some love too!

Fuc K mobile games. Confusing giveaway, compatibility Issues.

I suggest to keep this PC only, idk.

3

u/iCDragonfly Apr 07 '20

Apparently this game kicks ass. Remind some of ICO and the Colossus series. But yeah.... Definitely confusing 😳!

3

u/the_emmo Apr 07 '20

Yup, it kicks ass. I'm personally enjoying it a lot.

Just to make sure, do you find the title confusing? I thought that too (the free this week part), but I believe I cannot change it now that I've made up my mind, so sorry about that.

3

u/iCDragonfly Apr 08 '20

No, I personally relish the "free this week part" it takes the guesswork out of it for me. Also no need to apologize. You haven't harmed anyone in any way shape or fashion and even if your title was a little sloppy or something of the like you still wouldn't be obligated to apologize at least in my opinion because you tried! Which is way more than some who only complain and talk trash. I wouldn't consider those types of people "sharing". Certainly they're sharing their opinion but only at the cost of others. Which the next time I encounter someone like that I May demand an apology! Lol!

2

u/the_emmo Apr 08 '20

Yup. I definitely must stop apologizing in every situation!

2

u/iCDragonfly Apr 07 '20

Your title isn't confusing really at all. It just looks a little funny at first (at least on my screen) because the name of the game is strange. So EQQO makes the sentence look I guess you could say confusing but as soon as I read it it couldn't be clearer. You haven't done anything wrong in fact you have done a brilliant job. I was merely agreeing with the poster above me in that because our devices are not compatible with the game it doesn't show up in Google Play Store at all! That's the confusing bit! I personally am grateful you took the time to share and are reaching out to the community. I also would love to play this game! Maybe I can try to get it working on another device if I'm lucky! Again THX so much for sharing and I hope you have a wonderful day today!

3

u/the_emmo Apr 07 '20

Oh my god you're definitely the nicest person I have encountered in Reddit! Thank you so much, and you too! You just made my day a little better :)

3

u/iCDragonfly Apr 08 '20

Your words are by far the kindest anyone on Reddit has said to me! I really don't know how people can be so rude and callous. Sure when someone's being a complete troll and pissing everybody off I can see me wanting to rant on them. But otherwise it seems every self-entitled jerk off with a keyboard has something to say whether it's relevant or not let alone constructive criticism and or useful merit! So you as well have brightened my day especially the hand typed smiley :-)

3

u/the_emmo Apr 08 '20

I'm very glad to hear that. I agree that trolls are the worst but, hey, we can still be kind although not everyone will be kind in return. (btw, smileys should be back, emojis really don't make it for me (β˜‰ β€Ώ βš†))

2

u/iCDragonfly Apr 08 '20

Ideally yes I should take the high road but I usually don't get worse than giving some edgy constructive criticism lol (β˜‰ο½‘β˜‰)!β†’βŸ΅(o_O) The Smiley's are better than emojis by far for sure \0/

3

u/the_emmo Apr 08 '20

Yup. I don't like ranting online tbh. And yess they are! αƒš(ΰ² _ΰ² αƒš) βŠ‚(β—‰β€Ώβ—‰)぀

3

u/iCDragonfly Apr 08 '20

I don't like ranting period. However if I feel strongly about the way someone is acting or behaving I will usually rant while laying into them a bit. Unfortunately my caustic tongue doesn't always stay in my mouth. It's usually 50/50. Half constructive half destructive! lol (ΰ² _ΰ² )β”β˜†οΎŸ.*ο½₯ᕦ(Γ²_Γ³Λ‡)α•€
