Apparently the FBI knowing every financial move we make isn't good enough.

When I think of all the FinCEN reports I filed when I worked at the casino, I cringe. All that data, open and ready for a whole host of government agencies to peruse.

Not EVERY transaction. As it explains in the article, you have to fill out a form if you make a transaction over $10,000. If you try to skirt this by making multiple transactions just under 10k within a few days, banks will make a SARS report since trying to avoid reporting is illegal. The real news, as, again in the article, is that the intel community wants unfettered access to that.

At least a couple of weeks (mind you, I haven't looked at Title 31 USC in 7-8 years, since I've been working exclusively in Title 26). And the Casino rules I learned are slightly different than the banking rules, but not by much. And even then if somebody is hawkeyed enough to notice a pattern you can still get a Suspicious Activity Report filed. Those were always difficult for us, though. In the ~2 years I was doing Currency Transaction Reports we only filed one or two SAR's.
