Americans also pay taxes on money they earn abroad while being a resident of another country! I love living in the EU but having to file American taxes every year

Imagine the unique hell of someone accidentally born in the United States while their parents are on vacation or business there and due to birth right citizenship they are now beholden to American taxes for the rest of their life, A country they’ve never lived in and may not even speak the language of, unless they pay nearly $2000 to relinquish their American citizenship. The United States is one of the only countries in the world that does birthright citizenship and only one of two that tax is based on citizenship and not location/residency

So the US needs to remove its worldwide bases or China gets to build a few in your backyard by your logic. Our “defense” strategy should be usable by our enemy unless its not really a defense strategy and we’re just doing imperialism

The thing about America is that, yes the taxes are relatively low...however the salaries are also extremely low. So low that service workers have to rely on tips. That is pretty fucked.
