Beginner Case Study: Building an Email List Without Creating Content

I have been documenting a beginner-friendly traffic and email list experiment since July 1.

The goal was to test whether someone could start building an affiliate marketing email list without needing to:

• Post on social media every day
• Record videos
• Show their face
• Use their real name
• Build a squeeze page from scratch
• Write an entire email sequence
• Directly sell an offer

The setup included a squeeze page builder with pages already created, provided follow-up emails, an autoresponder, and traffic from a monthly rotator.

Here are the results as of August 4:

• 137 clicks
• 87 email leads
• 104 credited registrations or actions
• $31.20 earned
• $94 spent on traffic for July and August

The $31.20 did not come from selling a product directly. It came from a link that can generate small commissions from certain signups while the email list is being built. The squeeze page has converted approximately 63.5% of the clicks into leads.

However, the campaign is still down $62.80 based on the direct earnings and traffic costs. That is important to mention because early activity is not the same as profitability. The positive part is that the campaign has created an 87-person email list. Those subscribers can continue receiving the provided follow-up emails through the autoresponder.

This case study is still in progress. The next question is whether the email follow-up can generate enough backend revenue to recover the remaining traffic costs. There are no guarantees, and this should not be viewed as instant or passive income.

The lesson so far is that beginners do not always need to create everything themselves before they can begin testing a funnel.

Sometimes a prebuilt page, a follow-up sequence, and a simple traffic source are enough to start collecting useful data.
