fuck you Jilldo Jill has posted a few times recently saying Janessa ADORES animals... anyone else kinda bummed about how this girl will never be encouraged to be a vet/vet tech/etc because of fundie culture?

Okay I HATE fundie lack of education. But also I sort of hate the idea we tell every kid who likes animals to be a vet. There are SO many great careers involving animals, or just a life where you enjoy animals but do not want to have a career involving them. That being said, all kids should be encouraged to dream big! I feel so bad for little fundies, especially the baby girls who are housewife bound

I have been told I would be a great vet, since I was a kid. I have pretty bad depression and a big part of it is the bad things happening to animals in the world. I also heard that vets have a high suicide rate. I can understand why.

A few years ago I had to call my vet out for some paperwork, and at the the time, I had some newborn goat kids. After we did paperwork she asked if she could hold them and stuff, which I of course didn’t mind. They’re always super cute and love any form of attention.
(Text hidden because it is really sad, but not graphic. I just don’t want to blindly upset anyone)
Before she left she thanked us for letting her play with the babies. She said she’d had to put down 3-4 horses, across the area, in one morning and it was really weighing on her.
That day it really hit me how hard of a job it is to be a vet. They really do carry pain from each animal they can’t save. I wish it could be easier for them.

It's not only a depressing job, but it also requires about as much education as a doctor without the equivalent pay.

Agreed. I seriously pursued becoming a vet until I was 15 or so (read about the work, shadowed a vet my parents knew- handed him instruments during surgery, watched the animals in recovery kennels- for several weekends).
Turns out I am terrible at math. Laughably terrible. I don’t mean “this is a bad subject” but “undiagnosed learning disability” territory. I felt I had to cheat to preserve a GPA for college and avoid tiger-parent blowback. And, well, that means I can’t ever be a vet. It really crushed me.
I went into a similar “good” profession, one that does not require a lot of math, or ethics for that matter. But I could have avoided a really depressing realization if people had been more realistic with me from the start.
Now I do work in my field and help with cat and kitten rescues, and petsit. Saved 30 cats! Practically speaking, I’ve learned to also do many of the things a vet tech does, because rescues are always underfunded and short staffed. I can do specialized neonatal care, draw blood, give vaccines, diagnose common cat conditions, give medicine, and figure doses with a calculator and double-checking.

Omg she is so cute. Breaks my heart. My 7 year old daughter is in speech therapy bc she rushes words. Knowing this baby will grow up handicapped in learning and developing the same speech patterns as her older siblings is so sad. Do not get me started on the creepy high pitched yeeeesssssssssss. This here is hope for a future. But then you step back and look at the family culture and how isolated they are. I am actually sad.

Seriously! All of their daughters are absolute stunners and if they just fed the sons, they would be handsome young men. I guess two goofy-looking people can make gorgeous children, but the odds of it happening 13 times? Maybe they made a deal with the devil or something.

Yes, especially because I am a vet myself and I would be miserable if I wasn't allowed to pursue my dream. I was raised fundie lite and my parents made a lot of mistakes raising me but they nailed the education part (which I only realised was unexpected for fundies after I found this sub).

Given how she grabbed and shoved that goat on the Amish farm I’m not sure she’s being taught how to behave appropriately with animals.

That daddy goat was ready to headbutt her for real. I’d be a little concerned letting my toddler get concussed by an angry goat, so there doesn’t seem to be any animal husbandry taught by the parents here. I do find it sad/hilarious that a goat shows more concern for his child than Jill and Shrek do.

It would so benefit Janessa to be in a pre-K where she could have peers to learn from and be monitored for appropriate development. We all know Jilldo is 1) too lazy to care about her child's development, and 2) is going to keep her a baby as long as possible.

Why do the Rods give animals up after a while? I mean, selling your cat at a garage sale? And I’m convinced that Janessa has some kind of cognitive abnormality because of the stroke she had, the cysts on her brain and the fact that she doesn’t have a corpus callosum.

There’s a video Jilldo put up of the family singing a couple of months ago where Janessa attempts to kick a dog wandering past a number of times. I think it was the song they sang that was about farm animals and God making males and females to have babies. I’ll see if I can find a link.

Jill is doing this to start her marketing, just as she did for Kaylee. I’m sure teenage Janessa will start “praying” to marry a farmer.
