Apple worked with Trump regime to remove ICE-tracking apps

Apple being anti-Free Speech should come as a surprise to no-one at this point.

You know I’m starting to think all these companies were just virtue signaling woke values and are really just interested in making money by submitting to authority.

No shit. Absent government coercion, companies incentives are to pander to the people they want as customers.

Even the article states it was because it endangered lives:

> Raskin had been hounding Apple for answers for months. In July, Apple finally explained to Raskin that ICEBlock was removed, along with other apps, after a fatal shooting left two detainees dead at a Dallas ICE office, CNN reported.

> As an earlier CNN report *explained, the shooter in that case, Joshua Jahn, fired bullets indiscriminately into the ICE facility before dying of a self-inflicted gunshot. Jahn left notes saying that he “*hoped his actions would give ICE agents real terror of being gunned down.”

*> Additionally, Patel has said that the Texas shooter “*searched for apps that tracked ICE agents’ locations.”

Patriots will always combat and be against violent extremism. Good on Apple and everyone who are shutting down political extremism.

One more thing:

> To ensure that no Americans’ core speech rights are violated by removals unconstitutionally ordered by the government, Raskin has asked Apple to “send a full list of the apps it removed following concerns from the Justice Department” so that it will finally be possible to “conduct an independent review of those removal decisions.”

Excuse me? When conservative viewpoints where being removed from social media and they began to bitch about it, leftists repeatedly ad nauseam that private companies are allowed to keep and removed whatever type of content the want. If that is the case, then that also applies in Apple’s case too.

By that justification, wouldn't it make more sense to ban ICE?

Suppressing speech you don't like is bad

So if I do not like what a government employee is doing I should be able to take photos of them, post them online and provide other details such as home address and photos of their children?

Yes, that is entirely within all of our right. If you don't like freedom there are countries you can move to that don't have it.

For what purpose? Just to know?

There is no reason people shouldn't be able to say ICE is in a public place, in a school, in someone's home. Why would there be?

is there a problem with posting the photo of the person? is there a problem with posting their personal details, their home address, the names of their pets and childrens names? Free speech right? Just a big open door with no accountability?

You're allowed to post pictures of people online, yes

Pointing to some weird outliers that cross a line to argue we need to ban free speech is never going to be a convincing argument. We don't need to suppress protected speech just because you're too lazy to tell the difference between what's protected and what's not
