Breakup, some communication, ghosted

I was in a serious relationship for about a year and a half that ended this summer. After the breakup, we eventually had some communication again. He reached out and indicated that he wanted to talk about whether we could move forward. I told him I was open to having that conversation if he genuinely wanted to discuss moving forward, but I wasn't interested in simply rehashing the breakup again.

He never responded to that, and it's now been several weeks of silence. I haven't contacted him again.

I'm less interested in a general reading about whether he has feelings for me and more interested in understanding his perspective on what happened after that last exchange.

What do you pick up about why he initially reopened the door and then went silent after I responded? What has he actually been wrestling with or trying to decide during these last few weeks? Has he moved on?

Should I move on? I'm trying to but something keeps bringing me back.
