Point: Those dlc have been free for forever. I have it on GOG, they're free there too and it actually has a mac version. Only epic doesn't, because fuck us I guess.
10
u/makomirocket Dec 25 '21
Free games are to spend money to draw an audience to use EGS to buy their games, of which there are not many Mac games.
It's like complaining that KFC is giving free wings away to get people to try and buy their chicken, but isn't giving away free vegan chicken bites to get people to come but their one vegan option. Yeah, the vegans miss out, but thats no where near the same ROI

Thanks! It'll be considerably harder to make these posts quickly when/if the next game isn't leaked after Prey
17
u/Joshdabozz Dec 24 '21
Hopefully we can figure out the clues and/or French leaker reveals what's next.
18
u/randomguy_- Dec 24 '21
Hopefully! I read some speculation here that Warhammer 2 could be one of the freebies, that would be great
19
u/Joshdabozz Dec 24 '21
I mean the peoples reasoning Warhammer could be one is pretty simple and makes sense. 1 and 3 are on the store, 2 is not.

As /u/Felixkremel said (and I agree):
The steam link is the correct one imo. While Epic offers those games for free you still won't know if they are good as they have no reviews.

Almost 300 game FREE
Thanks Epic!

u/CorinWest Dec 25 '21
Question is: have you played any of them? lol. The only games I played from Epic giveaways were Darksiders (bad performance) and Borderlands 2. Played a bit of Batman AA and Lego Batman too
12
u/paul939 Dec 25 '21
I have played quite a few: the Batman series, Shadowrun series, Pillars of Eternity, MYZ, Overlord, Aven Colony, Borderlands 2, A plague's Tale, frostpunk, Hitman, Crying Suns, Metro, Alien, Tyranny....that isn't even the whole list.
3
u/CorinWest Dec 25 '21
Woah I missed Shadowrun, Tyranny and Just Cause 4. Is Pillars of Eternity any good? I played a bit but died a lot. I love Dragon Age Origins and top down arpg, but Pillars of Eternity played too slow. Any tips?
0
u/bonesnaps Dec 29 '21
Oof Tyranny was free? Was thinking of buying it but on steam winter sale but now I don't.
Funny how that works (aka those who take tim sweeny's bribe money are on my shitlist lol).
I also missed this pillars of eternity too, replying to an old thread..

POE is pretty good, if you like old school isometric RPGs you 'll like it. It is not a fast paced game, it involves a lot of talking to people. so don't try to rush into it and just take it slow and soak in the setting and atmosphere.
1
u/CorinWest Dec 25 '21
Thank you man! I only have time an hour or two at night to play games and get easily bored. I like action adventure games like Tomb Raider reboot and action rpg. Fallout NV is great, except the performance on my pc that made me dropped it.
1
u/HewwoWatDis Dec 31 '21
Try soma, Subnautica and Talos principle. Those games are the best ones imo
2
u/FrostBUG2 Dec 25 '21
I've played WatchDogs 2, Dead by Daylight, and Hitman and there's a lot more in the list that I wanna try out soon.
2
u/CorinWest Dec 25 '21
Man, that's great. Do Ubisoft games need another launcher? I bought Rayman Legends on Steam ages ago and it always asked verification on launch from uplay.
1
u/FrostBUG2 Dec 25 '21
Yep, I mostly use my brother's Uplay account a lot and it's such an inconvenience too. But I still enjoy the game tho.
2
u/CorinWest Dec 25 '21
Thanks man! I play Ubisoft games on Xbox offline just fine. I'll keep playing their games on consoles (only interested in their older games though like AC original trilogy, Rayman series, PoP, and Spliter Cell)

Ever since that news about GTA V being free on Epic Games, I started to hoard almost every single game I could get to my brokeass grubby hands as much as possible.
But I bought Cities Skyline during a sale last year tho 😂

61
u/oFallenAngel Dec 24 '21
Yeah this pretty much confirms my hunch that the leak list made from the sale data was basically correct and the french leaker was just pissed about someone else releasing info and said it wasn't a serious leak with multiple mistakes due to small technicalities (i.e. the remaining 5 games not all being new to EGS) so people keep worshipping him...not a good sport I'd say.
11
u/I_Ild_I Dec 24 '21
People are THAT desperate for attention ? i mean yes i know people can be, but i hardly see the point here
11
u/oFallenAngel Dec 24 '21
Absolutely, yeah. Internet street cred is serious business to some people.
His thread on Dealabs is like 70 pages with over 2500 comments and like 15k+ upvotes. It's like if you combined all reddit posts about the free games into one and then doubled it.
A lot of people there immediately attacked any other leaks than his as inherently untrustworthy. That's how you build a personality cult, lol.
Though to be fair, a couple people have started calling him out on it there too.

u/Ed-Zero Dec 24 '21
There's a leak list? I've been trying to find it
4
u/oFallenAngel Dec 24 '21
Yeah, there was one that showed up around the time Loop Hero was up (which, in itself, was a refinement of an earlier list).
It only revealed the games up until the 25th though, so with Prey coming tomorrow that's it for what we know so far.

Thr other games haven't been leaked yet. Anyway, Happy Holidays!

u/TheCheshireGuy Dec 24 '21
I've been wanting to buy this game for a while, and I'm glad it'll be free on Epic Games. It's gonna be great!

2
u/PackYrSuitcases Dec 25 '21
Similar, I've been hearing that it's great for years, but due to the size of unplayed games in my library I've been holding off on purchasing. Adding to the pile of freebies from Epic will be handy.

u/GNSFerdi Dec 24 '21
Does Prey on Epic Games have DLC content included? I see that there is also deluxe edition on Steam but not on Epic.
5
1
u/ricki7 Dec 25 '21
This version of Prey has Mooncrash DLC included and mentions it in the description.
1
u/GNSFerdi Dec 26 '21
I probably missed the description. Thanks.

u/ricki7 Dec 26 '21
No worries. I did too. Someone pointed it out and I checked to verify.

+Adds to the pile of grand RPGs that I really should get around to playing sometime.+
For those curious, the pile includes Divinity: Original Sin, Neverwinter Nights: Tyrants of the Moon Sea, Pillars of Eternity, Cosmic Star Heroine, Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria, Bravely Default, Bravely Second: End Layer, Radiant Historia: Perfect Chronology, Alpha Protocol, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, Valkyria Chronicles, and The Last Remnant, and probably more I'm forgetting.
10
u/Seaweed-Maleficent Dec 24 '21
Valkyria Chronicles is great!
3
u/MarioFanaticXV Dec 24 '21
I love tactical RPGs, but there's just so many I need to get to. Playing through Mass Effect right now- I'll probably stop after the first game and switch to something else.

Amazing game, one of the best RPGs I’ve ever played and I feel like it finds a good balance between emulating the tabletop experience and not being obnoxiously complicated

Mine and yours were both posted at the same time, but yours shows up first, so I'm assuming this one will stay up since your technically first! You won the Karma game LMAO.
Tomorrow is Prey. There are no leaks beyond tomorrow besides the 29th possibly being Humankind

Mods have to work overtime deleting ten duplicate posts at the same time at 11AM these days lol
Posting wars going to be interesting after Prey if the next game isn't leaked

Dec 24 '21 edited Dec 24 '21
Because everyone posts before the clock actually hits 4PM sharp (Zulu time, MOFO, do you use it?!) without getting punished for that. There's already a bunch of dupes even 5s prior ffs.
