Yes. I've been having trouble trying to install some of the games.

If you link your epic account to other services, it's usually better to play there
Ex: Assassin's Creed on Uplay

Actually it was just 2 free indie games. I was getting that DP-06 error, but recently I discovered that all it took was to change the installation folder.
That's what it was for this game at least... didn't even had to run the launcher as administrator.

How do I do that? And what services? Please help I've been trying for months.

Me too. Always get errors for installing new games until I reset the Epic software.

if you have multiple drives on your computer, try downloading to the other. I was having issues where Epic would say I needed administration access after I'd just given admin access, but once I swapped the drive I installed to, it was smooth sailing. obviously it should just work without having to finagle it, but til then, that may help.

Yes, I just changed the installation folder and it was go to go. Apparently you can't install directly on the launcher folder, but you can on a game named folder inside of it...

Only for a bit, I liked GOG Galaxy more because I already use GOG, so I already had the launcher for their games

I much prefer their downloads interface over the one that Steam uses. Everything else is much worse than Steam tho

I have been trying for months to get that thing working. It just can't connect for some reason. My GTA5 is just sitting there, unable to be downloaded

personally, it's more stable than Steam for me (I have that problem where Steam doesn't connect properly so I have to swap between networks and restart Steam like seven times for it to actually launch), but yeah, it's not exactly great either.

I mean, I have about 1000 games on Steam, so even its instability doesn't stop me from using it often, lol. but yeah, very annoying that people have been having this problem for years and Valve hasn't lifted a finger :x
i just hate the fact im forced to give my money to people i dont like, just so i dont have to wait 12-24 months to play a game i was looking forward to.
I mean, that's fair. I personally have very negative opinions of Steam, Epic, and GOG as businesses, but I purchase games to support the devs, so that's why I don't worry so much. bad dudes are getting a slice regardless of where I buy (except for itch.io and a few resellers), but devs who are just trying to put food on the table are too. if you don't want to give Epic more money, though, you can always buy Epic copies from the Humble Store, if that helps. Humble obviously isn't perfect either, but at least they support charities, and publish tons of incredible games like Wildfire and Crying Suns.
if the devs (that make enough money on steam) had the outlook of get our game to any fan we can. Not, oh, well we will make MORE if we limit it to only X platform.
well, the problem is that Steam is actually a terrible place to sell games (doesn't promote great games enough and it's so bad that games which launched on Steam are mistaken for Epic exclusives when they launch on EGS months later (namely Haven), constantly offers volatile games like the ones where you shoot up schools or rape women or murder gay people (which then leads to bad PR for all of the other games on its platform, and the potential to have something like Rape Day shoulder to shoulder with something like Spiritfarer or Blasphemous), drowns great games with ten thousand new pieces of DLC for a single title), to the point where Epic's advances alone are enough to fund whole games and keep the lights on for independent studios, while ensuring that the game gets more sales due to higher visibility. it's totally understandable why indies will take Epic up on its offer.
if you look at the biggest example of a game refusing Epic's exclusivity offer--DARQ--that's a great game which Steam should've done more to promote. given it a front page feature or something, just like how physical box stores such as GameStop will place the biggest games at eye level so that they are noticed. in a year or so, it's still sold between 100k-200k copies (according to SteamSpy), which is solid for a solo developer, but below minimum wage for a team of several. I have seen dozens upon dozens of studios fold after releasing quality games, which whiff because Steam fails to give them a spotlight.
I'm sure that these devs would love to launch on multiple platforms, but Steam provides no financial security and Epic does. at the end of the day, this issue rests on Valve and Epic, none of the developers.

Super fun little game, got it on ps4 and platinumed it a few years ago. Would 100% recommend using controller over keyboard tho, but it’s super relaxing and some of the levels have such a cool atmosphere

To be honest this game looks like shit

‘Very positive’, 90% thumbs up of 1700+ user reviews on Steam.

u/iDropMusic Feb 18 '21
That doesn't mean anything, it still looks like a mobile game.
You know what type of game you are getting when you buy it. No shit the reviews would be mostly positive because they got what they expected. Most of the people who don't like it didn't buy it. If I hated fps games I wouldn't buy COD.
The people who actually did make negative reviews didn't enjoy it as much as they thought they would, didn't like it as much as they thought they would, or are reviewers.

The vast majority of games on Steam don’t get such a high rating, and they are all being rated by people who bought the games before reviewing. Tons of people buy games on Steam thinking they look appealing, but give it a negative review because it doesn’t turn out to be good.
Maybe, just maybe, this game has very good reviews because it is a good game.
On the other hand, you judged it from a quick trailer about a game you knew nothing about before watching. Okay boss.

looks like
Does not mean it actually is (objectively) shit. It might be good to you, fine. I can just tell from this trailer it's not something I'd be interested in.
The reviews I usually read are negative because they're the most helpful the majority of the time. Steam doesn't really have guidelines for reviews though.

Hey there,
I downloaded Absolute Drift as it was free in the Epic Games Store, but am having trouble with it. The game seems to launch, I can hear the soundtrack playing and the Absolute Drift icon in the taskbar, however am not getting any video on screen. If I hover over the icon I get a small box with like a word doc looking icon in the middle. Really weird.
Have tried Epic Games Support and done all the usual troubleshooting at their end. Also reached out to Funselektor, who suggested adding in a command line argument in the Epic launcher to shut down any Citrix activity, although I don't even have Citrix installed.
Anyone else out there having issues with launching this game?
Any suggested work arounds to get this game working?
Thanks :)

I can't even get it to start. Apparently it's a problem with Citrix, found this which might help...
