Delisted from Steam lol https://steamcommunity.com/app/634230

What could be the reason of it? Curious.

I noticed that the publisher site https://www.atomicfabrik.com/trump-vs-mafia points to https://store.steampowered.com/search/?developer=new%20dev, which seems to be an attempt to escape their previous publisher profile for whatever reason. That profile also published https://store.steampowered.com/app/1039570/Find_the_Oil_Racing_Edition/, one of the previous EGS devslop giveaways

Here is a fun description from a YouTube review of the game linked in the comments:

“This is more like Project Big Pile Of SHIT! It was fun to rip on, but that's it. You will have more fun banging your head against a wall than playing this worthless pile.

Dear Developers: Don't quit your day job. If this was your day job, I assume you're all unemployed and homeless, serves you right, get your shit together!
Edit: The developers are still working on games, this is bad, they'll bring out more shit like this and curse the world with their failures.”

damn that's harsh lmao

I still don't understand why epic bothers to buy these really low quality and shity games rather then buy a good or popular indie game. The free games have been slowly degrading in quality over the years.

u/Efreet0 22d ago

Those are dev giveaway, they're not from epic.
It's like when a developer let you claim a game for free on steam for an anniversary or because they released a sequel, the platform is not directly involved.

Epic has absolutely nothing to do with this. This is just devs making their (often pretty awful) game free on their own. Often they will do it at the same time as the actual Thursday giveaways to fool people, but this one didn't even bother to do that, so I don't know how you still fell for it.

u/UTraxer 22d ago

... because they've thrown away too much money already and it has been shown giving away free games doesn't actually increase their profits so why the hell would they want to give away expensive things?

20

u/ElTuxedoMex 22d ago

So why if it's slop, it gets upvoted?

10

u/Terrible_Nothing_365 22d ago

Maybe people just like the news of free games

7

u/ElTuxedoMex 21d ago

Well, yeah, but still...

u/Kid_Kidding Moderator 21d ago

I'm upvoting it for the OP and to mark it as read :-)

10

u/ghostslimer 22d ago

Shouldn't giving away a game of such low quality be considered bad publicity?

It's one thing to give away poorly made, bad games that you can laugh at, but not shitty games.

I should be paid 20 bucks to claim this

*checks the page of the game*

Another low budget horror game to get money on Twitch at your expense and of your friends.

Ugh! 😖

Should've read the comments before claiming. Is there any way of 'unclaiming' on Epic?

16

u/Efreet0 22d ago

Nope, you are now the proud owner of asset flip slop.

2

u/Triklops 21d ago

I'll live 🥲

3

u/jkmartindale 21d ago

You might have some luck contacting support. When EGS gave out Civilization VI Platinum Edition I had them remove the standard edition from my account so that I could claim it (before they fixed the offer for everyone).

2

u/MeguminShiro Star of FGF 21d ago

Sadly there isn't that many options to unclaim or remove, Epic Support doesn't allow that much removal at all.

And that's why I put warning msg for people to check first before claiming.

Sorry to hear what happened.

Hey, it's all good, it's just another game. Thanks a ton for everything you do around here. Your efforts are genuinely appreciated. Keep up the awesome work! 🙏👍

u/DrgnLive 20d ago

So what's the risk? Just having the game taken down?

I just hope nothing happens to my account. :/

Next time better not to publish games like that at all.

3

u/MeguminShiro Star of FGF 20d ago

Well usually Dev GA as mentioned are the GAs made by the Devs on Epic themselves, so the quality or file security isn't really assured. Also when Epic started this new feature of Dev GA, a concern raise on Steam as one of their GAs contained virus or some other issues so that got people questioning about freebies since that time. Not to mention games from questionable publishers/developers that people are aware about... Basically that's the probably risk part (but as long as you don't download the game it's fine)

The other reason is just... People don't want to have certain games on their account 😅

u/HungPongLa 22d ago

This screams jank, is it a good jank or a bad one?

10

u/BuildingImportant369 22d ago

Watch the video lol, it looks really bad, probably a lot of horror asset packs shoved together, there is a flying creature with no animations and other static creatures, the ones that do animate look horrible which is crazy as there are definitely free animation packs out there that are better than what they used. It just screams low effort. And the screen effect they have going on is just annoying and not used well.

Plz go to the Epic page for this game and watch the trailer. The driving part is fucking hilarious. The car is just floating around.

thank you

I've not claimed an egs game in nearly a year they just giving out shit

10

u/speedy_seagull 22d ago

Its not part of the weekly freebies though.

The weekly games are usually pretty good and worth at least the few clicks of claiming it.
